Philly, is this hubby's 1st or 2nd Thanksgiving here?

Hey Ells yup this is Hubby's 1st Thanksgiving he is very excited, he is cooking the rice and peas for my Mom she is happy one less thing for her to do this year

Awww, that's great! I know Lehi is real excited too....he's been dreaming of turkey & he won't have to cook a thing. We'll be doing a purely traditional meal this time...maybe next year we can throw in some Jamaican dishes but for now, it's turkey, stuffing, mashed taters & gravy, buns, cranberries & all that! I also told him he's NOT ALLOWED to put ketchup on the turkey!! I said, this time, he has to do it how we do....maybe another time I'll let him sully the turkey with ketchup!

Um, excuse me.........who is "WE" here? I put ketchup on my turkey. Always have!!!!

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

I have to finish shopping today for Thankgiving. I got my free turkey last week I still had one in the freezer from earlier in the year so that will be for Kwanzaa. I have to get goat and coconut milk, corn for my cornbread and some more spices Ughh I though I was finished.

My Mother is so excited for Damian she wants this day to be so special for him, and she is worried I will ruin it because I am not speaking to the hellians, oops I mean my children! Puhlease I have been on this grueling diet since 11/9 I am dreaming about stuffing at this point LOL. I told her nuh worry arself I will be there @ 5:00 am with a bundle of African flicks ready to cook dem facety pickney ain't taking my one day of turkey and thanks away from me! Ok Rant over :ot2:

Awwwwwww, sweetie. I know exactly what you mean. What I talked to you about...I always repeat the mantra "she is not going to ruin today"...um, not in such kind words though....it makes me feel better; but she manages to ruin them all pretty much.

I really wish you luck in having a peaceful Thanksgiving.

Thanks JG I really appreciate it ((( hugs)))

You put corn in your corn bread??

Where in Cali does your Mom live? If hubby & I ever do our 'belated' honeymoon to Vegas, we'll have to link up with you! He can't wait to see Vegas!

I would love to go to Vegas for Mother's Day next year....

That's nice it's not too far from you...at least within a 1/2 day's drive! Southern Cal is as bad as SF when it comes to housing prices! I bet there's no place else she'd rather be though, right? That's how I am with SF...both hubby & I love it here....we just may not be able to afford to live here forever.

When that trip happens, I'll definitely let you know. I didn't get to reply the other day to everyone but I liked seeing the pics of the Peppermill. I remember a very hungover morning there once! LOL! I'm not a gambler but it sure is fun doing everything else! My only unrealistic wish is that casinos would go smoke-free! YEAH RIGHT! I'm hoping we can get there after the spring semester is over....and if not, maybe we'll go around the same time my Aunt & Mom make their yearly pilgrimage together in the late summer.

Late summer in Vegas?? Neva eva again. I went in June and I swore I was walking right next to the devil himself. Matter of fact he told me hi. You know its hot when you have on tennis shoes and the heat still burns your feet. So many nights I thought I was going home to glory and I’m a fluffy gyal too!!!! Sheeze me couldn’t manage. Of course I made it work but I wrote that down in my history books to only go to Vegas between Sept-May……

WE as in MY family! How can you interfere with that roasted turkey taste by putting ketchup on it??? :o

 I know, crazy right? That's when my Mom & her sister always go. I've been there at that time too & it is hot but at least it's dry heat & there are plenty of places to take refuge....I can't handle the humid heat.....no way could I go to Atlantic City at the hottest time of the year. Where my parents live is always really hot in the summer so maybe that's why I can deal with it a little better than some. Don't get me wrong though, most of the day will be spent in air conditioned attractions!

Congrats My2 on mister getting the medical picked up!

 Congrats MY2

Thanks for the reminder...I'll definitely have to remember to use the camera! I've been real bad about that lately....then I'm wondering if we'll have enough pics of both of us together for our AOS interview.

I love me some turkey but what I think about most of the time is the stuffing inside the turkey! Me & Dad fight over that! Hopefully Lehi will prefer the turkey (which I think he will cause he loves fi nyam di bones) & that'll be one less person going for the stuffing. LOL!

Why do these guys love ketchup on everything so much?? I don't get it. He can have it that way later....I just want him to taste it without first otherwise he'll never know what it's SUPPOSED to taste like (cause you're nuts JG! ).

:lol: @ the air freshener melting....it is ridiculously hot there....but we'll just keep indoors if we end up having to go around that time.

Hello VJ family.

Ells - I feel the same way about ketchup...drives me

Congrats on the recent approvals and safe travels to those who are travelling.

We're leaving Thursday morning for Atlanta so we'll miss Thanksgiving dinner unless we stop at the restuarant :crying:

Hey...not sure. I didn't think we would miss it because my family eat so damn healthy (you don't want to see their menu :dead:) but hearing people talk about traditional Thanksgiving food is making me hungry.
