Advanced parole - Travel Date?

Hey everybody. I am just about done putting together the AOS packet and have a question regarding the I-131. I lovely wife would like to see her folks in the spring but does not yet have a date planned. Do I fill out the form with an approximate date, put date unknown, give date but say its approx. or just apply when the date is more firm? Any words of wisdom?

For my wife's AP, we just filled out with aproximate dates and it was approved with no problems.

"Spring 2010" would be an appropriate answer. :thumbs:

So does this mean we dont have to show USCIS somehow that AP will be used for emergency purposes only? Im pretty sure ive read a lot of posts here that says never use AP if it is not a matter of life and death. Does that apply only to those who overstayed? I also noticed that the sample I-131 form now has a specific date on the travel date, if i am not mistaken that used to be "unknown" when i applied for AP.

I have the same question as you, and also what do I write for the Part 7 - explanation...I was just looking to go on holiday.

When I filled out my I-131, I answered "unknown" on intended travel date and length of stay. For the explanation, I attached a separate sheet saying that I will be using the AP in case a family emergency occurs. All of these were based on VJ sample forms and advice from VJ'ers. I dont think thats the case anymore. For example, how can someone know that there is going to be an emergency in "Spring 2010?" or "Winter 2010?"

This is what I found on VJ wiki which is also in the I-131 instructions.

"You may apply for Advance Parole if you have an adjustment of status application pending and you seek to travel abroad for emergent personal or bona fide business reasons."
