Hello, I need help with I130 application proceedings,

please.

In July 2001 my mother (US Sitizen) applied for me

and my wife and the application was approved in October

2004. Since then we didn't hear from them and didn't

do anything about this. Also here are two problems:

1. Only now my mother told me that in Approval Notice

the Section part reads :"Unmarried child (age 21 or older)" although she sent them my marriage certificate with the application.

2. Since the application was sent we (the beneficiary) moved from one

place to another and it is possible that NVC did sent

us something to the former address.

My question is: did we waste 5 years by doing nothing

or we are still waiting in line? Do we need to contact NVC now? What

should be done (if anything) to correct the "Section" part or to

update the address? I'm trying to find some answers

online but it all is very much confusing. I thank you

in advance for your help.

From what I understand is that once your I-130 has been approved it go to the NVC and it stay there until the visa number is available. Once it’s available they will notify you in the mail. I know this from people in my community who already went through the system. Once your case reach NVC and processed they will send you a notice saying that they will notify you once the visa number become available until then do not contact us or something like that. Oh…just remember it will take around 4 years and up. Sponsoring brother, sister or son and daughter will take a lot longer than a spouse of a USC.

And don’t forget to update your address when you move.

Good luck to you!

Thank you. Let me just understand: will they contact me (the beneficiary) or my mother (the applicant)?

Because if they should contact me I have to check with them whether they have already done this? And what about their mistake in my category status? Thanks again.

NVC will contact the benefiary and petitioner. Please note that "Beneficiary is the "Applicant" and the sponsor is the "Petitioner"

Sorry, I can't help you with category status cause i'm not too familiar with it.

Good luck!

Check with NVC with your receipt number and/or NVC case number at 603-334-0700. You can also email them at NVCinquiry@state.gov. Include case number, petitioners name and birthdate, applicant (or beneficiary, same thing) name and birthdate, and then ask your questions.
