in the case of regulated professions like that one, your best start is to contact the association for pharmacists and like in your state. They will very likely point you in the right direction. Do note that many times, foreign trained professionals have to return to school for a bit before they are allowed to work in their fields. Best of luck.

Find out if he needs to be registered to work over here or have a license. If so, the relevant state license/registration society will be able to provide more details. If he does not require a license or registration, my advice is to use a well established education evaluation service. I used ECE as they were much easier to communicate with, eg you can fax your transcripts and certificates to them rather than send originals or sealed transcripts from the applicants university. There are several evaluation companies some of which others on here have recommended. Good luck!

YAY!!! One of my favorite professions!!!! (beauty freak here) In most stats, you have to get a license to practice. The wife of a dear VJ friend, Ahn Map, just got hers. I will PM him so he can tell us a bit more.

My guess is that it varies from state to state. Here in Mass. there is a procedure for submitting a school transcript and/or affidavit to prove your overseas training.

Find the website for the licensing board in the state you are going to be living in. Searching for "cosmetology license" is probably a good way to find the proper agency.

Hope that helps.

what is the process for verification of education or if it is needed before finding work in the United States. My fiance is a chemical pharmacist from Peru and was interested in doing similar here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chad

What a coincidence! I came to US with a K1 visa and I am a QFB too...

She can check this website http://www.nabp.net/ go to examination programs and review this topics

Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination® (FPGEE®)

Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee ™ (FPGEC®) Certification

I have the same profession, I am from Mexico. The hardest part for me has been passing the TOEFL examination with 26 points in the speaking section.

What I did is take the pharmacy technician examination, she doesn't need the TOEFL, just the knowledge in pharmacy practice. In my opinion is a good start. Good luck

Like the others said, check with your Pharmacy organization, they usually have a list of steps they want you to get in order to get certified here in the us.

When I got certified as a teacher, my teaching department listed the steps I needed to take. One of them was to get the equivalent of my university courses done with ECE - Education Credential evaluators.

The Lord is my strength and my shield,

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.

Psalm 28:7
