Unfortunately no. It's been kinda rough for me financially. I payed for Жанна to come visit me here for the last 2 months plus had to pay for another return ticket to Russia because the agency she booked her flight with pretty much lied to her and told her it was an adjustable ticket and then when she got here and called, Aeroflot said it wasn't. Plus all the traveling from NY to SC we did while she was here. It sucks right now because, I moved to SC about 5 months ago and I can't work legally here until I have a SC state license, which meant I had to sit for another exam, wait 2 1/2 months for the exam results and register with the state :bonk: A lot of bureaucratic B.S. and I'm still waiting for a response from the state.

It really sucks because I've had to move in with my parents for the time being to do all this immigration/work stuff and I haven't lived with them since I was 17. So, it's kinda embarrassing because I had to ask my mother to be a co-sponsor as well.

And right now I'm waiting tables at a Greek restaurant. Tourist season is done here and I'm making close to no money at all now. Seems like my whole life personal and professional is just on hold right now.

haha now that i just told you my life story....

Have you sent your petition yet?

And thanks guys!

At least there is that Russian star keeping your spirit lit up. :)

Seems like it's only a matter of time for things to turn around for you. I know it's easy to say that and hard to live it, hopefully you'll all make it through it unscathed. And soon!

As for our petition, SOON!... She's mailed her updated paperwork to me and I'm just waiting for it to work it's way through the Russian mail system to me and then it's right back out the door. Time wise we're ok since she wouldn't be able to come here for around 9 months due to her wanting to finish up some University work.

Yes, defiantly.

Thanks for the encouragement. Actually, it's funny cus right after I left my last post I called the state to see what was going on w/ my license. They told me they issued it today and would be in the mail hopefully by Friday. Plus, we got the interview date today. Pretty good day.

I hope everything goes according to you guys, plan. (Yous guys...yes, I am from NY). Keep me/us posted on your progress!

Sounds like you have a lot of things going for you. If you had to choose, wouldn't you place love ahead of wealth? And it sounds like there is promising news in both departments. There are reasons it would be nice to go there to bring her back, but advantages too to being well-rested and well-prepared for her arrival.

I am encouraged at your relatively fast interview following the NVC forwarding your file to Moscow. I am hoping on making it out of AP any day now, so maybe we can get an interview date around the time of New Year's.

So congrats on making it through another stage of your journey.

I do have a lot to be thankful for. Of course I would choose love. It's just frustrating because I'm a person that is proud of not having to rely on other ppl or my parents for help. But, I am grateful to have them help in this process. Honestly, it was nice in a to have my parents get to spend so much time with Zhanna and get to know their daughter-in-law to be. I think my mom likes her better than she likes me lol. I'm not complaining by any means, just want to get back to supporting myself again.

It seems like a lot of the recent petitioners are getting stuck in AP @ NVC now. It may be due to the large influx of approved petitions by VSC. It's a crappy situation, you are so happy to get your NoA2 and then you get stuck in AP.

I'm sure you'll get out of AP soon. I know that sucks. I wish you all the best. And hope you get an interview date soon.

congratulations for taking the next step!

I read about your problems and now I feel sorry and must apologies for the PM we sent you a few days ago, asking for your help... you have enough of your own. you've got me a little worried about the restaurants now that the tourist season ended. stephen is a proffesional cook so he might have some hard time finding a job when he gets there. he can't send the petition untill he'll have a job and an address there of his own. he also overstayed in romania for 17 months and he might get an one year interdiction. we'll probably see each other again after 6 months (IF I can make it to the US)... see?! it can be worse... :P

I'm sure you'll have your future wife there with you by Christmas and everything will be great for you guys!! as for the parents, you're lucky to have them. don't feel embarassed for your mother's help. it's her "full time job" and she loves it! :) you'd do the same thing for your kid, no matter. right?! good luck with your exams and zhanna's interview! best wishes, s&m... and thanks for reading this.

I want to say something based on my experience. Take it however you want, especially after your Zhanna joins you in the USA and you become responsible for her too.

I learned the hard way how important it is to save money when the times are good, so that I have money to live a normal life for at least a year if I am ever unable to work. Do not even count on unemployment. Count only on what I have saved. Doing so helps make difficult times like yours less stressful and possibly more successful.

The economy has been in the crapper more than a year already, and despite the threat of losing my job any time, I have been able to sleep sound so far. Anything can happen, but I know that I can survive for a year ... at least. This is more important now that my Russian MOB is here with me ... making me spend even more money (English, food, transportation, phone, etc.) every month.

It will be better when she can finally contribute to the household totals, but for now and until AOS, it is only me. More reason to have a cushion somewhere.
