I think it is a normal occurance for the immigrant to send money to their families....we discussed this, and we have a set amount, but we agreed that if we are short on money for that month, that our family comes first.....

Never give up on anything God has told you to believe for; never quit doing anything He has clearly shown you to do. Your diligence will pay off with a blessing from God." -Joyce Meyers

Well my husabnd has 4 children in Jordan and he sends money every month. Yes our needs are met and if something happend where we could not send money I know that he would make sure that we are ok and that his brother would help the children. Thank God that we are ok and that we manage to be able to provide for the children. I knew this before he came and agreed that as long as we are ok that we can do as much for the children as we can and we do. Thanks be to God!

My MIL and SIL are widows (SIL with 3 young children) and so we send money as often as possible usually on a monthly basis. I know they really need the money and we work it into our budget. It's important to both of us that they are financially taken care of as they are there alone without any other male family members to provide for them.

Adam & I discuss it first. We have sent money on 2-3 different occassions. This most recent was $100 to cover his mom going to Cairo to the doctor and getting some medicine.

We have bills here that have to be taken care of. The credit cards are from BOTH of us during our period of being apart so he has an obligation to help me get those paid. Plus, I go to the doctor every 3-6 months, so taking care of the home is a must.

We have most recently separated our paychecks into our own accounts. He is learning pretty quickly that money goes fast. He has to pay his credit card, his car note, the insurance, his cigarettes or patches and gas for his car. I pay for credit cards, my car note, cell phone bill, gas in my own car. We jointly put money towards groceries and savings. That way he is starting to learn that what he has left over is a lot less than what I have left over and that you cant go out and spend what YOU do not have :)

That way I can insure bills will get paid and not LCD tvs, more laptops, fancier phones ect...

These are all great comments! I have really mixed feelings about sending money to Adil's family sometimes only because one of my SILs and my BIL live with my MIL and another of my SILs lives with her husband right down the street, but the family is pretty well off. But from what I mostly hear, my BIL doesn't really contribute much and is always out or asking for money. In fact, when I went to Morocco in May, he's the one who asked for a lot of material objects where my SILs only asked for me. (sweet huh?) So I guess since Adil is the only "real" man of the house now, it's also his obligation and therefore I approve. Thankfully we haven't had to send anything in a while though. it's been tough with a new business in this economy! :)

Thanks for commenting everyone!
