Hello everyone,

I need everyone's help. I have hit a bump in my journey. My I-130 is at the NVC and just received my AOS bill and the DS-3230. However, my I-129F was also approved by the USCIS and its probably already at the NVC but I have not received any information from the NVC on that yet.

My dilema is, which route do I take? The K3 or the CR1? I have looked in EGYPT's processing times up to the last 6 months and can see the CR1 seems to be getting processed a bit faster now than the K3 (from how I read the chart). I am scared if I chose the CR1 that later it may get stuck at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo or if I go with the K3 that it too can get stuck somewhere...

Anyone out there who faced this problem??? Who also filed with EGYPT???

Everyone's insight/knowledge in this area will be truly appreciated. I just want to be reunited with my husband ASAP.

Thanking you in advance.

Liz

cr1 is cheaper and better visa.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

I cannot comment on the rate of pass/fail on the CR1 vs the K3... If you have solid documentation then it should not matter as far as things YOU can control... As far as denial or AP because of name checks or other additional processing, that is something that would delay visas which ever one you choose....

With regards to which visa is better? Without a doubt, go for the CR1/IR... This give you the green card (551 stamp) upon entry and GC status... With the K3, you will have to file for Adjustment of status which is expensive and yet another process....

Just have all your information together (proof of relationship, financial documents etc...) and go for the CR1, it is the permanent resident visa and the best visa to get... The K3 visa was invented when wait times were much longer than today.... It is practically obsolete... Especially now that the CR/IR is taking the same amount of time!!!

The ONLY reason USCIS still offers the K3/K4 is for those that are dumb enough to use it so USCIS can get your money.

Thank you so much.

I do have solid documentation. The only thing that worries me is that I have traveled to Egypt once and that is when we married. I am trying (hard) to visit with my children in April 2010 (God willing) but I worry that if I cannot afford to pay for all of our travel expenses (hardship), will the USA look at this as a red flag & deny the Visa? I love my husband truthfully and unconditionally but reality is, people cannot just pack up over night and decide to go to Egypt with 3 children. Airfare alone will run close to 5,000. Money that I would rather save for when my husband arrives to help support him until he find employment. What do you guys think? Will the USA look at my marriage closely because of this and possibly deny the visa? I did meet my husband online so that I know all that will add to the red flags...Please HELP.

Thank you.

That's not cause for denial however that being said, obviously the more visits you have the better.

However, that will be a concern for both types, k3 and cr1. I recommend only pursuing the cr1. It's a much better visa that offers your husband a much easier transition.

CR-1 will end the long run save you $1010.00. You will be able to work as soon you get there. Have you GC and SSN number posted to you. With K3, you'll have to apply for EAD and SSN. EAD wil take anywhere around 4-8 weeks. This will cost you $355. I think you also need a travel document, known as Application for Travel Document costing $305.00.

I was in the same boat as you. Both petitions approved, which one to go for. To me the fastest one, was the most important. My constitute when we called, said, apparently both visa were getting process near enough the same time. We, in the end, decided on CR-1

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.
