Are there any Asian or Oriental grocery stores close by? I'm sure she is getting hungry for "real" food. Many of these specialty stores carry free Asian community newspapers, a bulletin board up on the wall somewhere, and the owners can help with networking too.

Try this http://www.thefilipino.com/filipinostores/...oresinOhio.html

and here: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp...;fp=1&cad=b

If you don't have one already, I would strongly consider buying her a Magic Sing karaoke microphone. She'll know what it is and it will help with her boredom. In fact, nothing will say "I Love You" more than a dried fish and a Magic Sing. Get the set up with 2 microphones so you can join in also (talent not required).

In addition, there are 10's of thousands of karaoke songs in all languages and genres avaliable on the Internet and in the Usenet newsgroups along with the software to play and sing on your computer, or burn to CD-R and play on a multi-format karoake standalone DVD player.

Keeping busy helps with the adjustment. PM me for more info on the karaoke stuff.

Good luck!

NM

she dont have to buy a magic sing karaoke microphone...she can sing out loud (if she really know how to sing the song)(na diri ako hit crying ayam)...she doesnt need to FIND "real" food...she can cook it herself (if she really have that FINGER touch)...those are asawa kong maganda's comments...now mine...i understand that some(or most) of the wives r left at home (bored and alone) while their husbands go off to work..but...cmon..am i insensitive? i'm sorry but these cries sound like the cries of a bata complaining to her father..u chose to marry and move from ur home and family...now..u have a new home and family...like it? becoz... asawa ko says...we love it!

I'm trying to negotiate a deal to sell my wife's magic sing...

Sorry, I know this probably doesn't belong on this forum...so I hope its not a problem. My wife just got here from the Philippines on a k-1 visa. Were getting ready to file the I-485. We are here in Ohio, and there's not a whole lot of filipinos around. I noticed that there are alot of filipinos(or spouses of) on this site. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good forum for filipinos living in the states to just discuss cultural differences, ect.

She is having a hard time adjusting right now...and I think it would be great if she had some connections so she could just discuss her feelings, ect. Like I said, sorry if I shouldn't have posted this here, just looking for a way to help her out! thanks

As for Forums try:

tell your wife to try www.meetup.com - she might be fortunate to meet nice Pinays in that site like I did. type in your zip code and join a local Pinoy group or look for Pinays with same interests or those who are also new to the area and are looking for new friends.

We've all been there, some of us are still adjusting and getting better at coping, but some do need more time. I think it's a good thing that you are not insensitive to the needs of your wife. God bless and i hope she finds new friends soon.

You could move here, where half the state is Filipino. The weather is about the same as PI, just somewhat less hot and humid. So all the gulay she is used to grows here, and there are alot of wild chickens around here too. My wife thought she landed back in Ilocos Norte when she got here.

If we move to Hawaii and I run for public office, I have a 50/50 chance of getting elected with all our kailians going to the polls, is that right, bud? :star:

I met three Pinays here whom are all married to white guys. The problem is we don't get to meet often because we're all busy with work. Bummer! I settled to make friends with the Mexicans at work. They are sorta like Pinoys in some ways.

Hokey Smoke!

We? White guys busy with work in the USA? That speaks volumes in favor of our industrious society. What else besides the Yo-YO, flooding and poverty can your 7100 islands account for besides earning your rank as the #2 high fraud country for immigration to USA?

C'mon friend. We are all human and despite where we are born are the same inside. We all desire love, humanity and strive for happiness in life. Being rude like this lowers yourself.
