Is AJ like that baby that was uninsurable because the insurance company said it was too fat?

Yup. The awful truth is that AJ is just too

brown

to be insurable.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

WAIT. I don't. Carry on

you're too white to be insured.

I wonder where all the RWN are that were oh so sure that the health care reform effort would never see the floor of the Senate. Funky how in a few short weeks the entire debate shifted from whether there would a reform bill to what that reform bill will look like in the end. Even the public option looks more than probable at this point. And all that with a President who has no leadership skills whatsoever.

Well that didnt take long for the Obama praising to begin.

Oh, I see. It was all his fault when the effort seemed in trouble but now that it advances, he has nothing to do with it. Just as expected.

Please I never said that, and besides most of the left on here were blaming Republicans for trying to derail this and a Republican steps up to the plate and the first thing you want to do is praise the almighty Obama. Also this just one step in a long journey so dont get to excited.

Sweeping health bill passes Senate panel (SFC),

...never to be heard from again.

They're abolishing the Senate Finance Committee? I don't think so.

There is a double entendre there:

1) Now that the bill is out of committee, they will fade back into the mundane tasks, like finishing the 2010 budget

2) Snow's comments were she supports the work of the Senate Finance Committee "today", but may not tomorrow, hinting that after both versions of the bill go to Senator Reids office to be "merged" in the dark of night, she still may not support what will be offered for floor consideration. The work product of the Senate Finance Committee is just a means to an end, never again to see the light of day.

I never blamed the Republicans - for months I've been saying "** 'em" given the Dem's majorities. There are a number of driving forces behind the effort and the President cannot do it all by himself nor should he be the only one credited with the success of getting the bill to the Senate floor. But I think that what we're seeing here is kind of a repeat of the primary campaign strategy where Obama and his team accomplished that which everyone knew couldn't be accomplished: outmaneuver and beat the Clinton's political machine. He's got some damn smart strategists on his team and they will see the health care reform through completion and there will be a public option in the bill the President signs. Don't take my word for it, just watch it all unfold.

1) The momentum is on the side of the reformers now.

2) They don't actually need Sen Snowe to pass the reform.

President Obama will sign a health care reform bill - with a public option in it. Watch and learn how the game is played...

This is much bigger than Obama, Obama is a very small piece in this puzzle and to start giving him credit for this seems ridiculous to me.

Olympia Snow says that she will not vote for the public option, which is not in the SFC bill. At this time, there are 5 health care bills to be reconciled. The chances for a public option to pass in the final bill are still slim.

Snowe's buy-in makes the chances of the Democrats pushing for reconciliation slim, as it makes them seem like the bad guys, forcing through the Bill on a single part-line vote when they have "bipartisan support".

It also gives her a seat at the table when the merger of all the various bills floating around gets discussed.

It gives Senator Snowe the power to kill the upfront public option stone dead in the Senate and she will, if the final Bill is presented that way.

Lastly, it give her leverage to make deals for the State of Maine, in the same way she did in voting for the Stimulus Bill ($3 billion worth of shipbuilding contracts consolidated in Maine, anyone?)

Love her or hate her, Senator Olympia Snowe has proven herself, once again, to be a very smart, independent, political operator.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself
