I finally got my IL today and it's going to be at 1:25 p.m. I am just wondering....is it possible for me to have a same-day oath? I'd appreciate your inputs on this. Thanks very much. December 8 is the big day

Thank you so very much for that positive reply. I am a little iffy about my inclusion in the afternoon oath, taking into consideration the 1:25 p.m. interview. I have read months ago that they give afternoon oaths for morning interviews and following-day oaths for afternoon interviews...whatever is the case, I am still crossing my fingers to taking a same-day oath. Again, thanks a lot for giving me that "good chance" that I am looking forward to happening :thumbs::thumbs:

Hi Mom2LiNoah,

the Atlanta DO does same day oath ceremonies pretty frequently; so I'd say your chances look good.

Good luck to your interview! :star:

Unfortunately, no, with an appointment at 1:25 you will not be eligible for a same day oath ceremony in Atlanta. Your appointment needs to be in the morning in order to make the cut-off for the same day ceremony. My appointment was at 1:05 and I was given an oath date 2 weeks later. Another VJ couple had an interview half an hour before me on the same date and they too were scheduled for the ceremony 2 weeks later. While I was waiting for my interview those who were taking the oath that day were arriving for their ceremony. For my ceremony I was told to be there by 1 pm for my ceremony. The service was later but everyone had to be 'processed' prior to the ceremony.

Your interview itself takes time - assuming they are on schedule - and then there is a certain amount of post interview processing that has to take place prior to the oath ceremony. Your interview time is scheduled later than the 'start' of the afternoon oath ceremony processing, and there would not be enough time to do what needs to be done for you to take the oath the same day.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Oops - yes, that's true  ... Sorry, I didn't look at the clocktime of your interview.

You won't have a same day ceremony after all.

But when you are done with the interview the stressy part is over and you go relaxed to your ceremony and enjoy the day. :star:

Hi,

Today My interview was at 10.05am in Atlanta. I arrived at 9:30am and gave my letter at check-in counter. I waited for 45 minutes for my name to be called. The interview as such was quick. The lady asked me to do oath and went through quickly all the Yes/No questions and asked me if I owe any taxes which did not. She asked me about my recent travel. I told her I travelled once after application was filed. I offered her amended travel sheet,

which she didn't take instead modified the original sheet with additional travel.

Then She showed me the sheet with question, who elects the congress and she asked me write down the answer People elects the Congress.

She asked me

what are the major political parties now in US,

Which party current president belongs to,

Who is commander-in chief of military

Author of declaration of Independence

3 of the original 13 colonies

Then she asked me If I am willing to attend the oth cermony today , I gave her emphatic YES answer.

Finally she told me she is recommending me for Citizenship, however before I do oath, her supervisor will do one final review which made me little nervous.

I waited for another 1 hour before I received the Oath letter at arround 12:15pm

My oath cermony was completed at 2:30pm and I became US Citizen.

Oh well, it's okay. That's something we can't help. I'll just wait for my oath letter then. Yeah, at least after the interview, I'd be worry-free and be relaxed for the oath-taking enjoy the ceremony. That's fine Imzadi, no problem.

A recent unrelated post has been split from this thread, moved to the US Citizenship Case Progress subforum, and given this topic title: "Has Anyone Experienced "Wait for Oath Letter"? [split topic]."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
