Hey everyone! We need some advice here again.

My wife just received her biometrics appointment letter today stating that her date and time is next Thursday, 10/22/2009 at 11:00 am at our office in Portland, Oregon. This is a really fast notice, but its actually quite nice. This is actually great news as the time was pretty quick from our NOA1 to our biometrics date (exactly one month!) However, due to scheduling conflicts, she might have to change her time to a few days earlier or just an earlier time on that date.

Our questions are as follows:

1. My wife was thinking to either change it to this Friday, 10/16/2009 at anytime OR next Thursday, 10/22/2009 at an early time than scheduled (say, anytime from 8 am to 10 am, which is 2-3 hours EARLIER than our scheduled time). Do you think these times are reasonable and would they be allowed for an early biometrics if we just "walked in" to the office? I also noticed that our office was opened on Saturdays (If that is the case, then 10/17/2009 would be perfect w/ anytime possible as well). Which of these times and dates do you think would work and be most reasonable? Is there a recommended time we should go?

2. Does an early biometrics walk-in cause unnecessary delay (if my wife was to choose the weekend day, i.e. Saturday to do her biometrics) or could it add any suspicion to our overall file or case? Has anyone ever had problems with this before?

Thank you!

Most of early bios I've seen here, they had no problem at all. I would suggest early in the morning thou, less traffic = less chance for turned down. Early bio is better than re-scheduling which could take weeks. I highly suspect early bio have any negative impact on your case, AFAIK cases are processed by receipt number.

Ah. That sounds like a good idea. My wife and I will try going to them this Saturday at 8 am (when they open) as that works out best for both of our schedules. Hopefully, our USCIS office will have room and accept our request for an earlier biometrics date. I am not too sure if the weekend is a good idea (any thoughts?) as they may be even busier! Oh jeez.

Anyways, what do you suggest we do when we get there? Should we just say something along the lines of ... "Hi. My wife's biometrics appointment is scheduled for next week, but we were wondering if she could get them done today?" Any suggestions, tips, or advice on what to say or how to approach "them"?

Thanks again.

Hi. My wife's biometrics appointment is scheduled for next week, but we were wondering if she could get them done today?" Any suggestions, tips, or advice on what to say or how to approach "them"?...sounds good to me.. :star: I think that was my pitch except it was for my biometrics. Just be polite and smile.

I never had a problem with mine . I did it..1 week earlier. At first I was told they don't take 'walk ins'. I was also asked if I had a valid reason. I said there was a conflict with my schedule. He asked me if I can provide proof. I just stood there and didn't show anything :innocent: ..then he asked for my appointment letter, green card, and ID and told me to fill out the form. While he was looking at my ID he was telling me that he decided to take me because they were not busy that day but otherwise they stick to the schedule of appointments. I don't know if he was telling the truth..maybe..I guess it depends on which office you go.

Ah, that would make sense. The reason for scheduling changes are that she has an exam at her community college in another city, in which she would not make it. I guess we will print out a syllabus of her class schedule to show to the "officer" if any questions arises inquiring the reason for her early biometrics.

I never had any problems doing an early / walk-in bio. Mine was scheduled on the 19th but had it done on the 5th. The ASC in Kansas City was pretty busy that day (there were at least 10 scheduled people ahead of me and it was only 11am) but they didn't question me as to why I had to do early bio. But be sure to have a very valid reason in case you will be asked for it.

Hey everyone! We need some advice here again.

My wife just received her biometrics appointment letter today stating that her date and time is next Thursday, 10/22/2009 at 11:00 am at our office in Portland, Oregon. My wife was thinking to either change it to this Friday, 10/16/2009 at anytime OR next Thursday, 10/22/2009 at an early time than scheduled (say, anytime from 8 am to 10 am, which is 2-3 hours EARLIER than our scheduled time). Hi! I was wondering if this worked, we have to use the Portland office too and I am going to have our first born in 5 weeks. I am hoping that my husband can just go on in without issue so we don't risk it falling around the time I am due.

Thanks!
