Please can someone advise me!

I arrived into Atlanta on 22nd August on my K1 visa. My fiancee and I are marrying on the 30th October. I've been putting together my AOS pack and realised I don't have an SSN.

Have I screwed up? I still have about five/six weeks before the 90 days is up - do I still have time to get an SSN before 30/Oct?

Many thanks in advance.

You have time if you go this week, usually as long as you have at least 15 days on your I-94 they will process your application. In case you didn't know it is not a requirement to have a Social Securtiy # to file you AOS, so don't worry if you can't get it in time.

It isn't?! Phew, that's fine then. Thanks!

Can someone confirm this? Not that I don't trust you pizzadude, but just want to be sure.

I'm submitting an I-765 along with my AOS. Will I need an SSN for that?

Also, re: I-765, can someone clarify what category I should select: (c )(9) for Adjustment Applicant, or (a)(6) K1 nonimmigrant of US Citzen? I'm guessing (c )(9), but not completely positive...

they are currect as long as u have more than 14 days til your K1 expires you will be fine, i got mine 2 weeks after i arrived here and i tried to get it changed into my married name, but because my K1 was going to expire in 13 days they wouldnt let me, now that i have my EAD i can change it, when filing your AOS if you have taken your husbands name, make sure you apply with that name because that is what your green card will come as, where is says other names known by put your maiden name there. good luck

If you are adjusting from K1 then C9 is correct. And believe me many people don't get their social security number and have to file AOS without it...

Here is a recent thread where it is discussed http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ocial++security
