Anh map,

It certainly wouldn't be a bad idea. Any information is better than no information at all.

STL_HCMC

Hmmm.... street addresses, or just location? My first wife has moved a couple of times and we don't communicate.

The considered opinion is that I should track down that info for my finacee'?

Will do, thanks.

I've got a receipt number now and set up my ID on the USCIS website.

Is this a "touch?"

Anh map,

Just wait for that NOA1. That is your second important step. Treat this like a step-by-step process and you'll have a nice ride.

Oh yes, a long journey lies ahead. I did the AOS, etc. with my ex-wife, so I know the drill.

Just wanted to know if I earned my first K-1 "badge." ;)

And per your advice I sent off an e-mail to see if I can get a current address from my ex as well.

Anh map,

Now you've merely applied to the program. I think your NOA1 will signal your acceptance and your badge will arrive with an NOA2 approval notice. :D

Best of luck!

CharlieBox,

They will, for sure, ask for it if you had been married before. Of course, I received absolutely no assistance from my former spouse. So, I wrote a statement saying where I thought she was at that time, then I had the statement notarized. They took the statement without any problems. One of the main reason why they ask for this is to determine the legitimacy and merit of your case.

Maybe I am missing something, I still don't get it. I mean, I have been married 2 other times to US citizens, we are divorced....what more is there that needs to be said except for the divorce paperwork. Are you telling me I have to track down all these old memories and get in touch with these people to get thier address for Thanh so she can tell them where they live? I am not sure how they can prove legitimate or not by my fiancee knowing the address of my ex's or not. How retarded.

Isn't is cute the way the Newbies always try to make sense of the system? God bless 'em.

CharlieBox,

My sense is that the purpose is two-fold.

- They want to know that the fiancee realizes that her fiance has had marriages, that they've failed, and that she's accepting of that.

- They want to find out how much the guy as told his fiancee about his past, that he's 'come clean' with her and has not hidden things from her.

I think this particular line of questioning may be less about the Vietnamese visa applicant than it is about US petitioner, although it may also be that a sincere Vietnamese woman would be expected to have inquired of her future husband's past and should know these things about a man that she has chosen to marry. Either way, I expect that it has arisen from problems that the consulate has experienced in the past and is determined to avoid in the future.

Yodrak

Kevin,

Why did they want Loan to know your ex's prior addresses? What is that all about? Sounds sort of silly to me. I mean, what? they expect her to have a relationship with them too? LOL.

Yodrak, that makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the input.

I know tt has been 14 days and that I shouldn't worry until day 30 comes, but I am still a bit curious about it. Government is sooooo damn slow. -_-

Hello Friend

desperate_heart77,

One thing, for sure, you and your fianceee will learn to cope with during your petition is patience. As you progress into the process, you will see things in a whole new perspective.

Back to your question, it has been 12 days since your fiancee sent the petition and its not long yet ... YOu will get the NOA1 in the mail soon.

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

Dang --- I should be a fortune teller. Didn't I tell you you would get it soon? :)

Hey, there is no hope like an empty gut feeling that something is about to happen but truly nothing has or will convict you in the long run. Paranoid I am! Especially after reading these forums.
