Yay! Congrats, Beth! :D I'm guessing they need the apostille seal version of the decree - you can bring them a non-apostille (but certified) version to the places listed here and pay a dollar to get the seal. It should be super quick and easy if you've got a certified copy of your divorce decree laying around.

Ok, so I REALLY want to put "APPROVED" all over the place, but .....

John's Visa is "approved pending further documentation". Apparently they didn't like my divorce documents and want "State seals" on them. ah, well.... it's an easy fix, just more time consuming and delays (having to request the same documents AGAIN and paying for them AGAIN). Doesn't really affect us in the least as John isn't planning to activate his K-1 until May 11th or so, but I just wanted to be done with it! :D

John said the interview was very easy .... they did not take some of his paperwork (he doesn't remember what exactly ... :) ) and we think it was because he did D-230 online. The guy interviewing him asked very few questions, did not ask for any supporting evidence of our relationship (no pics, no phone records, nada), just told him to get the certified "with seals" documents to him along with his passport and they will return it to him within two days with his Visa inside. SUPER easy! John also said that there were two other non-immigrant Visa applicants there, another K-1 and a K-3, and they both walked out needing additional documentation as well. The K-1 needed a criminal waiver (ouch!) and the K-3 for divorce documents as well.

congrats!! oh so close!!

so we mailed our packet 3 on march 6 and have not received any word yet. i emailed the embassy in tirana and we are still waiting for a response, its day 4 within their standard 10 day email response period. patience, patience, patience...

have a good day all! (F)

Hi everybody! I have two news one is very good: we were approved, interview went just great and we have visa right now in our hands. One is not so great, though... due to this Iceland volcano explosion we are now stuck in Russia and have to wait for Europe to open its airports. That is not good at all, taking in the account fact that my vacation time is long-long-long gone.

Hello all!

Just got back from an amazing 3 week trip to Ireland to see my wonderful Fiance! Hated to say goodbye (again) but it was so wonderful to see him and know this whole process is only 6 months from being over and done with!

Thanks so much for your help with all this paperwork information. It's been such a pain in the you know what. I need just a little more help tho. For some reason, neither my computer or my fiance's computer will let us open up the DS156 (it says my computer does not meet the requirements) or the DS157 (it goes to an official looking embassy page and then says page not found). I've tried the links from both this website and from the london embassy website as well. Is there another way to get them? My fiance is feeling very stressed and overwhelmed.

Thanks again,

Sorry I'm such a pain!

Congrats to everyone on their approvals/interviews. Nelson had his interview today and was approved pending further documentation due to the I134. I need a sponsor. This is proving to be more difficult than I thought...but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the guidelines for that are? they said I need a cosponsor based on the fact that I haven't been employed for a year straight (I was in chile for part of last year). I guess I am short 4,000 dollars or something like that. If I were to ask someone to sponsor him what is the timeline? isn't it, if it is not an annual income, the amount available has to be 5 times that of what is missing of the annual income? so I would need either someone that made that difference of 4,000 a year or someone with 20,000 in savings or assets? so it's 5 years? I am going to keep searching on the forums but if anyone knows off hand that would be fantastic. I need to send him this information asap. he might need to forfeit his ticket if I can't get this paperwork to him soon.

Thanks so much and congrats to everyone that is done!! so close!
