Due to the weather in Rio (96 dead from the rains and flooding so far), SDU is shut down, and it sounds like GIG might be going that way. L tried calling the consulate to find out what the deal was, during their business hours (after his airfare was shut down) and they said they were CLOSED, and his medical was closed, and everything. Fortunately, I was able to get it worked out that I can rebook the rest of my flight, but I'm presently stuck in Miami, bagless, and L's interview is probably gonna be cancelled by the consulate.

I am so ###### bummed right now.

So Sorry to hear that!! i hope everything will go well with ur interview and flight!! Let us know hows everything for you!! Good luck

K and L, I hope you are able to get safely to your destination in Rio. I guess I am not up on the news about rains and flooding. I will pray that you will get all things worked out.

My fiance' just finished his medical about 2 hours ago. I am so relieved that it went well. One less thing to worry about. Now onto filling out the Form I-134 and getting updated letters of intent.

I am breathing a big sigh of relief as it gets closer and closer.

Looks like we're going to be rescheduled with the rest of the people who are having to cancel (or were cancelled by the consulate) for the 6th/7th/8th/9th. We've got priority over new petitions, but there's alot of us. Looks like on VJ, last week, they were already scheduling mid-May, so it may be early June for us :(

Oh my, that is the worst. Hopefully there will be some chance they can slide your interview in a lot earlier than June. I'm so sorry this happened to you and everyone else interviewing around the same time.

I, too, am obviously not informed enough, because I had no idea the weather was that bad down in Brazil recently. I hope everyone there is alright!

Looking at the consulate's website:

You need to download, fill out (as applicable), and print:

  • DS-230 - fill out Part I only
  • DS-156 (and print a second copy) <-- online form
  • DS-156K (and print a second copy)
  • DS-157 (and print a second copy)
  • IV-15K <--- unique to the UK

Don't sign any of the 156/156K forms, as that's done at the interview. Mail them to the Immigrant Visa Unit at 5 Upper Grosvenor Street, London, W1A 2JB.

They do make reference to a DS-2000, but I don't know anything about it - Brazil requires the I-134 form instead. Some places on the consulate's website references mailing it with the other paperwork, others say they just need the 230/156/156K/157.

You can see examples of the forms here on VJ, if you need more help and how the forms should be filled out :)

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 1 of the above links gets us to an actual form, and I cannot find the UK procedures on VJ anywhere! I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places or what, and I'm getting just a tad stressed out! Ugh!

And, my parents are going to co sponsor or whatever, and I need to know if it's me or them that has to fill out the 134 form? Help! Please~

1/8/08- Met at Disney world

05/08- He came to meet my family

Seriously, you need to visit the UK forum! Go go go!

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html

This link is the UK "packet 3," which your fiance will be getting pretty soon, if he hasn't already. All your forms are here.

I-134 is here (if you don't already have it): http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134.pdf

Both you and your parents need to fill out a copy of this form.

Most of those links were links to PDFs, not to electronic forms. The only one that was an electronic form was the DS-156. Right click on the other links and "save as" to save them to your computer.

Start with the DS-230 (from the State Department's list of forms -- and you can look at VisaJourney's example form DS-230 if you get stuck). It's two pages long (as you only fill out Part 1), and if you have your fiancé's GS-325 (biographical information) from the I-129F petition, you should be able to fill it out by yourself. Seriously - it's all super basic information until you hit the "all places lived since 16", "all places worked in the last 10 years" and "all educational institutes attended" (for the beneficiary), and some of that will be on the GS-325. There's also previous military service, and a list of times they've come to the US (and what kind of visa they used - VWP or tourist, etc). Whatever you don't know, ask your fiancé. It's the second most involved form (the most is the DS-156) and pretty much once you have that filled out, the majority of the other forms just fall out from there. It's two pages long, but you may need to have extra pages if your fiancé has moved around a lot, attended many schools, that sort of thing. This one may take some time, as there's a bunch of stuff that you may not know about your fiancé.

Then, fill out the DS-156 (an online form -- and you can look at VisaJourney's example form DS-156 if you get stuck). It's almost entirely information from the DS-230 Part 1, with some extra information about previous visas and criminal record

Then, do the DS-156K (from the State Department's list of forms -- and you can look at VisaJourney's example form DS-156K if you get stuck). It's all info that you needed to put in the DS-230 and GS-325 already, and it's only one page, so it'll be super fast and really easy.

Then, fill out the DS-157 (from the State Department's list of forms -- and you can look at VisaJourney's example form DS-157 if you get stuck). Like the DS-156K, it's almost all information from the DS-230, but with a few extra questions about previous travel/visas/passports, explosives and travel arrangements. It's one page and should be fairly fast.

Then, download and print off the IV-15K form (which VJ has no examples of, but is seriously just something you put your name on and check things off of before mailing, minimal actual information is involved).

You should consider starting a topic in the UK regional forum asking for help as they'll be more assistance than me -- Brazil has different requirements beyond filling out the DS-230 Pt 1, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, and I-134 (and then, we don't need that til our interviews). :)

For the I-134, both you AND your parents need to fill it out.

Ok, so I REALLY want to put "APPROVED" all over the place, but .....

John's Visa is "approved pending further documentation". Apparently they didn't like my divorce documents and want "State seals" on them. ah, well.... it's an easy fix, just more time consuming and delays (having to request the same documents AGAIN and paying for them AGAIN). Doesn't really affect us in the least as John isn't planning to activate his K-1 until May 11th or so, but I just wanted to be done with it! :D

John said the interview was very easy .... they did not take some of his paperwork (he doesn't remember what exactly ... :) ) and we think it was because he did D-230 online. The guy interviewing him asked very few questions, did not ask for any supporting evidence of our relationship (no pics, no phone records, nada), just told him to get the certified "with seals" documents to him along with his passport and they will return it to him within two days with his Visa inside. SUPER easy! John also said that there were two other non-immigrant Visa applicants there, another K-1 and a K-3, and they both walked out needing additional documentation as well. The K-1 needed a criminal waiver (ouch!) and the K-3 for divorce documents as well.
