I'm so sorry to hear that. That is incredibly frustrating! I think you're doing the right thing by contacting your congressman, and that's a good suggestion to see if you can meet with a USCIS officer about this. It's so unfair to allow people to wait endlessly like this!

I booked my flight to Brazil ... there's nothing like waiting to the last minute. (Though, in my defense: the airline I normally fly on is having a promotion right now through the end of June, so I knew that I'd be able to get a good fare price even though I'm leaving in just over a week.) I'm so excited to see L next week, and to have our visa interview, and to just move ON to finalizing the wedding plans and starting our life together in three months.

So, for those of you who aren't from English-speaking countries: are you getting your things translated before you leave for the AOS and just, life in general? L found a place that's "consulate approved" that's got reasonable rates (compared to prices we found in the US) for the translations -- for about $60US, we'll get everything translated (birth certificate, police clearance, school records). I know the translated bc is needed for the AOS and the school records will be needed when he tries to go to school here. The first place we found in the US was going to charge $50-75 for just the birth certificate, so I figure we're money ahead to just do a blanket translation.

Hi Kalay! Our case left the NVC yesterday. I am SOOOOOOOO EXCITED! My fiance scheduled his Medical appt. for 4.12.10. We are waiting on Embassy to receive the packet for him to schedule his interivew.

OH NO! This is sooo unfair. You need to contact your congressman. We had a lot of issues with our case at the USCIS and when I contacted the congressman---it was all resolved within 5days. They think people should just have patience and wait around. It is soo hard and to have all these mistakes occuring based on their mistakes makes it really tough. My heart goes out to you both. I will keep you both in my prayers that god willingly it goes well for you!!!

Congrats!!!! Kalay...I'm right behind you. I hope ours continues to be smooth as well. I just tracked our packet from NVC to Kenya and it was picked up yesterday afternoon and shipped out this AM at 6:43am.
