It is STILL quaking in South America (even in Brazil), but they're starting to settle down -- the ones in Brazil are in the 2s, and even Chile's are getting under 5. I bet it'll be a few more days before they're done.

Good luck to the fiancėes of jhay and drdave, who are interviewing tomorrow and the next day. Pop back and let us know when you're approved! :)

My fiancee had her medical today and bad news she has to have the sputum test :( . We're both really dissapointed. Does anyone know what the ramifications are for this test. We know it adds 2 months of waiting. What else does it dictate? Will this keep her from getting approved? Any info provided would greatly be appriciated.

i'm really sorry to hear that...

my fiancee is currently at the SLEC undergoing the medical exam... she is really nervous as she told me there were a number of applicants that had to go through the dreadful sputum test... unfortunately, nothing has put us to ease yet as the result will still be a mystery until she goes back to SLEC tomorrow.

yes, unfortunately, this will put a 2 month delay on your whole process since the sputum needs to be cultured for about 6 weeks. If the result is negative, then all is well and she can proceed to the next step. However, if is found that she has an active tb disease, from what i've read, she is required to complete a full course of TB treatment before receiving medical clearance...

best of luck to you... never lose hope and keep on praying...

God Bless.

I don't know if this will delay the interview or not -- I've heard that TB exposure is fairly common in PI.

They may allow the interview and give a conditional approval (upon passing medical).

But if she's got TB, even with the 2mo delay of this test, it'll be another 2-6 months before she'll be able to get a green light.

Since there's a limit to when the medical's valid, I wouldn't be surprised if they ask you to delay the interview for the tb test, though.

I would guess the best thing is to contact the consulate to see if they want a reschedule in two months.

Sorry about the delay :(

-----

I'm really excited about my next trip to Brazil, for the interview. We're going back to his town the day after the interview, and his family's throwing us a small get together! :)

My baby is at the clinic getting her 3 day test done. She talked to someone that said there are alot of woman doing the 6 month TB treatment. I hope it doen't come to that. Of course I would wait for how ever long it takes but it would just be hard to wait another 8 months. If anyone has any experiances with this please share. Were just trying to focus on what we have to get done. Good luck to all of you.

Hi everybody! I'm back from my eventful trip to England and Ireland! It sounds weird to say that my fiance proposed, but he did - we didn't have a "official" engagement before this, we just knew we were going to get married, and the sooner the better. So I've been over the moon despite being quite jet-lagged!!

I'm really happy to see interviews rolling in!! Keep the momentum going, everyone. It has been really great to watch everyone come so far in with their visa journeys.

Caveman_Robot - I want to say sorry that your fiancee is dealing with the sputum test situation. I pray that it goes as quickly as possible for you, and it doesn't turn out to be a TB case!

And of course, my heart goes out to the people of Chile dealing with the aftermath of the recent earthquake.

This is Gary, and I am asking for your prayers for Cecilia. She went to Tacloban yesterday morning to take care of some printing of documents for the upcoming visa interview for our petition interview on March 10. From what I know from talking with her a few hours ... after Cecilia arrived in Tacloban yesterday morning, Cecilia took a motor-tricycle to her next destination... at some point the tricycle that Cecilia was riding in was rear-ended by a jeepney. Cecilia was injured and was taken to Bethany Hospital in Tacloban. She will be staying at Bethany Hospital for some medical treatment. . I feel so helpless being so far away, and I am really worried about her.

Gary, I'm so sorry to hear about Cecilia's accident. I hope they're just keeping her overnight for observation and she wasn't too hurt and gets well soon.

Sorry to hear about Cecilia, Gary, I know you must be going through a really tough time right now. Thoughts and prayers are with you, and hope you receive some good news soon.

Leenie, congrats to you, I know that the moment when that question is popped is so important. It's really a way of making that commitment in a way that touches your hearts, and prepares you to say "I do" on the big day!

My fiancee was just assigned her interview date, which will be March 19th. I'm so glad Taiwan's consulate is as fast as they are, considering the delays our petition had. We're both hoping things will go smoothly, especially since I've enlisted a relative's help for my Affidavit of Support. I'm sure it'll be fine, though!
