Can anyone verify this new Visa fee of 350.00...... is this indeed a reality? is it in effect now? where can I read about this "officially"

The $350 fee hasn't been officially implemented, and even the DoS website still says $131. I'm gonna ask the other person interviewing in Rio if they were told $131 or $350 for the interview and see what they say -- they've got a late March interview.

It's been more than 3 months we have not heard from the USCIS, no receipt, nothing.

Beyond calling them, if you look at the back of the cancelled check, there should be a WAC#.

I can't edit, but the last guy to get a date for Rio on VJ was given his date last week (on the 29th) for the 16th of March and was told $131 still applied.

Our visa fee is still $131 in Guatemala. I wonder when the date of the increase is.....Mid-March?

Man, I sure hope there isn't an increase. They rape us bad enough as it is through this process!

Yulia received her packet today and they crossed out $131 for the visa fee and wrote in pen $350

My thoughts exactly. However, since there has been no "official" ruling yet, I'm kind of wondering if there is some unscrupulous consulates out there that might try and take advantage of this period of uncertainty ...

My fiance' and I are ready to pay the $350 since we have no idea when our interview will be yet. Still waiting on our packet 3 from the Montreal consulate (it arrived there on Jan. 22). If the fee is still $131 we will rejoice, but if it is $350 then we know we have it covered. I don't think it is official yet though.

If you have never received a receipt confirmation from USCIS California Service Center, I would call them immediately and make sure that they have received it AND request that they send you a new NOA1 (Notice of Action - will say that they received it and their other processing verbage). You can also look at the back of the cashed check and get your USCIS case number (mine began with a WAC, however I have seen others that began with EAC). With that number, you can check your case status online.

Thanks Beth and John. About 2 months ago, my fiancee called USCIS. Somebody said for him to sit back, relax and wait because it is now busy time. Ever since we have not received any email or mail from them. I find it is very strange, do not know what to do

Call them back and say you haven't gotten your NOA1 after nearly 5 months.

Beth: I believe all of the CSC numbers begin with WAC and the VSC start with EAC.

OMG! Never mind ... I kept trying, somewhere along the lines I accidentally pushed a 3, and IMMEDIATELY there was someone on the line! Woot!! Got our case number, they received our packet on 1/27/10 and sent it to Vancouver TODAY!! YAY!!!

WHEW!

Called NVC today at 12:45pm Hawaii time got a busy signal, then I immediately called back, got through, pressed 3, and got an operator instantly! They did verify receipt on 2/2 and it was sent to Tirana on 2/4. Speedy! Oh great, I just realized I forgot to ask for the case number.

You should be receiving a letter really, really soon with the new case number. You could try calling back, but you probably don't need to!

Received my NOA2 hard copy today, and called the NVC automated system, but nothing about the case has been entered yet. Hope they turn it around quickly! But I understand they've got their hands full with the Haiti quake victims, so I don't mind waiting. My whole life's problems pretty much don't exist by comparison...

The NVC does not enter the case into their automated system. You have to talk to someone in person, unfortunately.

We don't have a date yet - the consulate emailed us on Friday saying they just got our petition and they have to enter it in, but they think we will be given an early April date on Monday or Tuesday, which is good 'cause that's what we want!

We've finished all our paperwork, and he's calling the physician after we've got the date. (L called his insurance and found out that since the exam's basically a physical, std test, and tb test, it's ALL COVERED!) All that's left is our plane tickets there and finding a hotel! I'm excited - never been to Rio.

This week, I'm buying our wedding bands. It's tradition in Brazil to wear the wedding bands as engagement rings, on the right hand.
