Congrats to Beth and John, Oleg and Svetlana! Glad you guys got approvals, and seems like the CSC is moving a bit faster! That gives me hope that my case will be approved quickly after I get the evidence in. Still haven't received my RFE paperwork, but it'll probably be here Monday or Tuesday. Keep those NOA2's rollin', CSC!!!

Thank you :) We are, most certainly, hope for this too. I already started to look in the list of documents and need to gather for Moscow interview. Good thing is, I got my W-2 on Friday, so tax declaration is not a stopper anymore. :)

You probably already have this link to the moscow interview requirements. We looked at all the documents when I was in Kursk over the holidays just to make sure there weren't any surprises. The Moscow online interview list is offline stating they are having problems with no ETA on when it will be fixed but we will keep checking it.

I waited about a week before calling the NVC and once I got through we got our MOS number and they also asked for Yulia's email address. I think the embassy prefers to communicates via email so you might want to have Sveta's available to give out when you call.

I've started filling out the I-134 but I'm not sure if I need to wait on gathering some documents like paystubs until im closer to the interview date. Or even getting the I-134 notorized so it's closer to the interview date. Just not sure if they will frown upon having documents dated to far ahead of the interview. I took some documents to her already like my previous year tax returns and w2's but i havent received 2009 yet so i havent completed my 2009 taxes yet.

I saw Darnell say in another part of VJ that the $350 fee increase is effective 1 March... googling didn't see anything to confirm the target date, so I asked him where he heard that.

I couldn't find anything to confirm, nor deny it but the first posting it seems that a "second rule" has to be published.

Non-immigrant visa fee increase

I haven't seen anything yet. My fiance' will likely get stuck with the higher fee since we have a 4 to 6 month wait for the Montreal consulate for an interview but it is NOT confirmed anywhere that I have seen. I am going to keep checking the Department of State website about news. Until I see something published there, then I know it is still $131.

Yeah, lilac, that's what I found too, and 1 March seems like a somewhat random date. IME with working with the feds (outside of the post office, as they're not federally funded, unlike the DoS), they are obsessed with closing spending gaps / increasing revenue in Q4, and if they think that Q4 won't bring in enough revenue, they'll do it in Q3 instead... so 1 April (start of Q3)/ 1 July (start of Q4) are the dates I would expect the most for the DoS price increase.

My fiance' and I are planning to save the money as if it is the higher fee (since we don't know when it will go into effect exactly) and if it is the lower fee, we will celebrate! I have read somewhere else that April 1, July 1, etc are the favorite governmental implementation dates so I guess we will have to wait and see.

For a spot of 'light reading' while I'm ill  I took a look at www.regulations.gov

The proposed rule was published 14/12/09 with 60 days for public comments which takes us to mid-Feb.

So it could come in by March 1st but they'd have to be pretty swift turning it around.

Safe to say they're going to get a fair few of us. Pretty fed up of the US government punishing me for who I fell in love with. :bonk:

I read somewhere that they usually do rate hikes on the quarters (April 1, July 1, etc) so some will be lucky, and others well, depending on the consulate wait, will likely be not so lucky. But as long as I get to marry my fiance' on July 11, 2010 I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH IT COSTS because finding the PERFECT MAN FOR ME is PRICELESS!

Ah, Darnell got back to me -- he doesn't remember where he saw it.

I think a 1 March implementation with a mid-to-late February end date for comments is way too swift for this bureaucracy -- especially given it took them a month to reply to an early comment. If people have been consistently writing in as much as they did in the beginning, 1 April will still be tight; that's only 2-3 weeks after the comments have been done being read. I don't know if they'd have enough time to analyze what the comments were saying (which, in theory, they would be doing since that's the point of giving "us a say") and any statistics/alternates that came out of the comments. Granted, we all know the increase will come whether or not we like it.

It took me about 15 minutes of redial on Friday to get through (53 redials!), then I pressed 1, then 5 to get a human. Hopefully you get through soon to see if your petition is there and whether it has been sent on to your consulate.
