I haven't heard back yet, but I had as my evidence of having met: my passport stamps (Brazil stamps on exit/entrance, US stamps on entrance), boarding passes from two of my flights (which, while they don't have the year, are supported by the stamps), a handful of random receipts (the only important one was the hotel bill that lists both our names, but other random ones I found in my purse when I was putting it together), and some photos from my two previous trips.

Dunno what we're adding for the interview beyond some stuff from this trip.

That said, I fully expect a RFE because my passport's bio page was poorly contrasted.

I submitted a copy of both our boarding passes during our trip to Boracay Island and Bangkok. I also submitted hotel receipts and about 10 photographs of us together, one of which was taken below the sign our hotel in Boracay and another taken behind an elaborate sand castle with the date distinctively part of the creation.

That sounds like pretty darn good evidence! It sure sounds like there's some inequality with the way they deal with these petitions. I sure wish I knew what their methodology was... Anyway, at this point I fully expect to receive an RFE. I lived in Taiwan for two years and dated my fiancee during that time, and I guess I just made the assumption that this would be easy. But there's certainly a lot more documentation I could have sent, and will probably end up having to send. I sure hope I'm wrong, though!

I don't know why I torture myself with the constant looking at the USCIS website to see if there is a change. Of course there isn't! I think I have myself fooled that this will happen faster than the 5 months they say ... and yes, I'm a pessimist. It will come when it comes and all the hoping, wishing, praying, b****ing isn't going to make it come faster for me. I think I will just go to sleep until it comes. ::sigh::

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get some news by the end of the month, or within the first week of February. You're still well within the range! But I know how you feel, I'm sitting on pins and needles hoping they won't delay my case with an RFE. But even with an RFE, it won't be too much longer, so I'm staying optimistic! :-)

Speaking of which, I just got another touch, so it looks like they're getting ready to do something.

Does anybody know what exactly it is that makes this process take so long? Is it simply backlog, or do they have to wait for some kind of research to come back to them?

I guess I should be grateful that this process is as expedient as it is. I was talking to my grandfather, who is American, about when he married my grandmother, who is German. When he petitioned for her to immigrate back in the 1950's, he had to wait 18 months to see her. This was also just after WWII, so they also had a few visits from the feds to check on her, heh!

Given that things used to take a helluva lot longer, I can be patient for a few more months! Breathe, breathe...

Well, after going through the packet I sent the USCIS again (for the 10th time, I think), I think I know what I did incorrectly. There are a couple actually. Both on my fiancee's G-325A form. First, on the question "If your native alphabet is other than Roman letters..." I accidentally left that (blank) when I should have put "N/A." Second, I also accidently left the box outlined by heavy borders in the bottom of the form (blank) when I should have put her name there. :bonk:

Luckily, my parents are in the Philippines and will be flying back to the US on Sunday. I had her print and sign the corrected forms I just sent her via email and she'll be handing them to my parents tomorrow. I'm not 100% sure if those were the reasons for the RFE but if my assumptions are correct, at least I'll have copies of the corrected and signed forms by Sunday.

I am so sorry to read you got an RFE. Glad to hear you are correcting what you perceive to be the errors. I'm just wondering how come the CVC officer who adjudicated your packet did not specify exactly what the error was so you could rectify the right documents or correct the form properly.

Is this really how the RFE's go? That we have to wrack our brains trying to figure out what the error is? Couldn't you call them to find out what is wrong with your documentation? I feel for you guys and for all the other couples who have received these road blocks.

However, it is simply that...a road block that you both can hurdle. For every problem, there is a solution. Take heart that you guys can handle it!

Here's praying for you and for all the others who are waiting for their NOA2s to get them soon.

As for us, we received our NOA1 last Oct 19th and upon checking the USCIS website today, we saw that we were "touched" as of Oct 15, 2010! Finally! there is some movement! We are hoping to receivables our NOA2s just like all of you.

Holding your hands in this VJ path,

Cherry

P.S. In case you look into our file, my real name is Theresa. Most Filipinos have a "First name" and a "nickname" that may not have any connection at all with one's "first name". It's a cultural thing, hahaha!

Hi Theresa,

Well, I have to wait for the actual RFE notice to arrive in the mail in order to find out what exactly the USCIS needs or what I did incorrectly. I just received an email notification that there is an RFE on the way. I am just taking a proactive approach to avoid further delays... but I will definitely keep you guys posted.

Goodluck to you! Hope you don't experience any road blocks on your journey...

Thank you, it was good to hear from you so quickly. BTW, My fiancee, Tom, was in the Philippines last year and I took him to Boracay as well as Palawa. Both are such beautiful places and we hope to make more trips in the future...but next time, as Mr. & Mrs. Schmidt!

BTW, I am leaving today to meet Tom in Honolulu. I got bumped off a few nights ago as I was traveling on a non-rev ticket (as my brother works for Hawaiian Air) so I had to buy a full fare ticket since I had no choice. Tom arrived in Honolulu from Michigan the night I got bumped off. Anyway, I'm pretty excited to see him again when I arrive on Jan. 16; it has been 3 months since we last saw each other. All this waiting wears you down.

Lastly, if there is anything I can do to help you, I will be back in the Phil. on Feb 1. I live in Alabang and can be reached by landline or mobile. If you just need someone to talk to, I would love to be there for you.

Let me know if you would like my contact numbers.

We can also chat on YM (Yahoo messenger). My user id is: cherryosmena

Be patient and know that in the end, everything will work out. It has to. So many ahead of us are with their true loves. That includes all of us!

love and light,

Cherry

I was so hoping that I would get some kind of news this week. Feel rather disappointed and wondering just what the hell is holding up the petition. It really should have been approved by now, and I'm like the only October 7th filer left who hasn't had an approval. Even an RFE would have at least given me some kind of indication as to what to expect. Now gotta wait until Tuesday before there's any more forward motion... *sigh* Was hoping to be with my sweetheart by spring break, but it looks like there's not much chance of that happening now ...
