I'm still trying to figure out how to get my cat back into the states with me from Belfast when I go visit my fiance in March. Continental only has information about domestic US flights, and nothing about international ones. Ugh! But in other good news, the price of my ticket went down by almost 150 dollars! Woo Hoo!!!!

My best friend moved back from Mozambique in July, where she had adopted a cat. I can ask her, but as I recall, she had to get up-to-date vaccinations 2 months before, and a blood test to confirm the proper amount of rabies vaccination in Mimi's bloodstream and a stool test to confirm there weren't any parasites (as well as a cautionary deworming) the week she travelled. She said it was a huge pain in the ####. This was one of the sites she used for preparing, because it was linked from the State Department or USDA's website (I don't remember which one she said it was).

I saw this on the September thread and I thought it is good information to know for us with our NOA2s!

What you want to do is call NVC at (603) 334-0700 press 1 then 5. They will ask you the following:

Case#

Benificiary's date of birth and name

Petitioner's date of birth and name

Ask them if they have received your case and an estimate of when it will be forwarded to the Embassy of your fiance. Also ask for your NVC case#.

I would call NVC about a week after receiving your NOA2.

I know all the medical stuff that we need to fly our kitty into the states, I just can't find ANY info about if I can bring him onto the plane with me or if he has to go in the cargo area. I also cannot find out how much it's going to cost. It's very frustrating because I found a super cheap flight to Belfast in March, and I don't want to pass it up, but I need to know how to book my cat on the flight too. It's exhausting!

Congrats again to all you approvals. Our approval date got pushed back...again. We're now on the 30th of January :(

Hey Jessia, about the kitty, here is a thread from the UK regional forum, "Bringing pets from the UK" http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=123420

Sometimes pets can ride in the cabin, but I think it depends on the airline.

As a side note, when I called them, I didn't even GET to ask them whether they have received the case, because as soon as I gave the case number, the woman I spoke to very rudely proceeded to tell me that wasn't a case number and that I had to wait longer, "OK?!!1!?!?!!1eleventy" (her words)

What, Leenie, does this mean anyway? "OK?!!1!?!?!!1eleventy" (her words)

Well I guess we will just have to wait then. I thought the case number from USCIS followed the case all the way to completion. I guess I will have to wait and see. I will wait until later this week though. I am praying things will proceed quickly before the Martin Luther King Holiday on Jan. 18 when all federal offices (and I assume foreign consulates as well) will be closed.

The NVC assigns you a new case number that is embassy-specific, but when you call NVC, I am pretty sure you give them your WAC case number.

The thing is, when I called, they hadn't received our case yet, so they didn't recognize our case number (obviously). The customer service lady was kind of mean/snappy about it, too, hence the quote! She didn't really say "eleventy," that was just interweb humor :D

Ok, Leenie, I thought it was some sort of weird particular to NVC information I should know before I called. I will definitely wait a few days before calling. Since my approval was emailed to me at 8:15 p.m. I can hardly imagine that it went on in Jan. 8's mail. It will probably go out on Monday and once I have the NOA2 hardcopy in my hand I will call the NVC. My fiance' was so shocked that we were approved on Friday night that he called back twice. "So this isn't like a pre-approval. They really approved us. We don't have to send any more evidence that we met and intend to marry." I told him, "Nope." We were both in tears from the happiness of it all by the end of the second phone call because it was starting to sink in that that process is really moving forward!

Maybe Vermont got too much snow and they couldn't get to work? Seems like both centers go in spurts. A few approvals then an avalanche of them all at once. Your NOA2 will come soon enough. I was just happy that my approval happened before the CSC processing time estimate.
