My SO will be here next Tuesday and is staying for 3 glorious weeks

Does feel kind of gloomy around here; winter storm dropped it's wrath on my neck of the woods yesterday, which made the morning commute treacherous to say the least. Lost a shoe somewhere between my driveway, my daughters school and my office ... SO I am wearing my snow boots all day. Needless to say, it's been a great day already ... HA!:(

Have you guys been keeping up with the September CSC filers? There were two more approved just recently, so the faster September gets complete, the faster they will get to us October folks!

Chin up everyone! The NOA2's will start coming ... eventually :) Not that I am counting or anything  , but have written the number of days on my calendar at work since our NOA1 was received ... 49 days today. I figure, based on estimates, we are past the halfway point of waiting. I've seen some approved in 80-ish days ... that would be nice!

Need some entertainment? Read the "Today's Active Topics" threads ... there is always some kind of soap opera type discussion going on there. I get a giggle every day out of some of the threads ;)

I'm going to Brazil for the holidays! He's got holidays too (he teaches, and the last of the retesting process for the kids that failed their courses ends the Friday before I come), so we're going on vacation in NE Brazil for the month I've got off. Hopefully, I'll be coming back to a NOA2 and he'll be here in April. :)

ETA: Just as well I'm going here, after the blizzard this week, he'd probably think he landed in the middle of Hoth and wonder what the heck he was thinking, leaving his tropical paradise for my frozen tundra! It's presently -12F here ("real feel", -1F actual -- -24C and -17C for you metric types) and 86F/real feel 97F there (30C/37C, respectively). He's never been in weather colder than 40f, and thinks 70f is too cold!

I am glad my fiance' is from Canada. Moving to Michigan will be nothing of a big change in weather. He may actually get less snow.

I am planning to go to Canada for the Christmas holidays. Get to visit with his parents, sister and brother-in-law. His parents are great people and I am looking forward to the change of scenery. January can't come fast enough for the approval process though!

Lucky you!

We decided that once he's got his EAD and has a job, he's paying the gas bill and I'm paying the electric -- that way, he can put the heat where he wants to in the winter, and I can put the A/C where I want to in the summer, and we're both happy. I predict I will be happier in the summer than he will be in the winter: I prefer having my A/C at 82 by day and off with the windows open/fan on by night, and my average electric use last summer came in at under 15 kW-hr/day (which was like $30)... keeping the apartment at 68, my gas bill last month was $50, and even *I* was a bit chilly! :D

:( we're not spending the holidays together, but as an early wedding present my grandma bought me a plane ticket to go out and see him in late March or early April! Hi everyone ... any touches, anything?

Shame on me for doing it, but I've been cruising the September and October VSC K-1 filers threads ... and they are getting approved left and right :( While I am happy for them (truly I am!), I just wish that the CSC would move things along. I know the time estimates for this thing is not quick, but come on! WHY is the VSC SO much faster than the CSC?! :crying:

My schedule turns out to be completely crazy. Coming weekend I'm driving to Minneapolis to get my new Russian international passport (that is the easiest way for Russian-born person to get to Russia, far easier than go there using my US passport, don't ask me why :)). Next week, Monday through Wednesday, my job sends me to Rockford, IL to go through training for new project I'm in. Finally, Thursday, 24th, I'm flying to Russia, from Chicago, to spend holidays with my fiancée. I still can't quite believe it. Decision was made and implemented so fast, immediately after I found out that my passport is ready for pick up. To top it all, my fiancée lives in my native city, which I didn't visit for good 11 years... My friends are going to tear me apart... My hope is that I would not offend any of them by the fact that I would spend majority of my time with my fiancée and her son. At any rate... With such kind of schedule, all time I have left to prepare for my journey are those 4 evenings after-job-tired-time, during this week, Monday through Thursday... That is insanely small amount of time, taking in account how many gifts I should buy... Especially this one for my fiancée 11 years old son. Despite all of this, I'm happy. Pure happy. Even so, I worry about gifts, passport, time, meeting with my childhood after so many years, I'm incredibly happy that I'm going I will have a chance to kiss my love in just 10 days. Wish me luck on this journey, everybody.

Wow, guys! Did you check the Igor's list today? September fillers had quite a feast today, I should say! And it looks like more is comming since many in the September thread are also been touched last 2 days. The best part for us is... 3 approvals are issued for couples with September 22nd NOA1 date. :)

I was so excited to see how far my fiance' and I moved up on Igor's list. Yeah. Hopefully between now and Christmas Eve a lot will get done at CSC! I will be on vacation with my fiance' but when I get back I will be even more excited. I hope that the prognosis of Jan. 12 to Jan. 15 is correct for our approval but I will be happy whenever it comes!

I spied a 22nd!

Also, I'm almost all packed up for my trip -- I leave tomorrow for my parents' (who live about halfway between where I live and the closest major airport and are taking me the rest of the way so my car doesn't sit at the airport for a month!).

Hopefully I'll come back to a NOA2! If we get a RFE, I don't know what I'll do - probably buy some skype cred to call them and let them know we need an extension since I'm abroad.

Everybody seems to be occupied getting ready to the Christmas trip, so there is not too much of excitement in the threads. :) I'm starting my maraphon today too - leaving for my passport in just a couple hours. But at the same time... 15-17 September stats really gives a hope. That is a good Christmas present. :)
