I'm also the US citizen in our US/UK pairing. We're planning another visit during visa processing time, but I'm going to go over to the UK. I've heard a few stories about being stopped at either the US or the UK border, too. But I've also heard you can prevent that as long as you have sufficient proof of your intent to return to your home country!

In regards to the interview date, you don't get to pick it, but some people over in the UK region forum have reported being able to influence their interview date by letting the consulate know they have a specific wedding date. It seems like the consulate tries to consider the wedding date when scheduling interviews :)

Thanks for the help, Leenie! I'm actually visiting him in the UK also, from mid-December to mid-January, so we will have plenty of time together. Also, we've been a long-distance couple for four and a half years, so really the visa wait doesn't seem like as big a deal to us.

Thanks for letting us know about the interview. Even if you can influence it within a few weeks, however, a last-minute trans-continental flight is a bit out of our budget. Plus my fiancee is better able to secure work in the UK than here. So, we'll see each other again when he's got that visa.

- Rito

Enjoy your visit together! To be honest, we aren't really sweating the wait for the visa, either, because we have been doing long distance for almost 8 years, whew! (I hope I didn't just say that in a way that makes this sound like a relationship *ahem* measuring contest, I just mean I understand completely :P )

what's going on? why are there no approvals again? :(

I guess all the CSC employees are slow to get their rears in gear after the holiday! Maybe they are going to punch out a ton of approvals really soon?!

Can you guys believe it, some of us are coming up on two months since we sent our petitions in. It didn't seem toooooo long to me *optimism*

I just found this list. My fiance' and I had our NOA1 on Oct. 15 (coincidently his birthday!) and I had the hard copy a week later or so. We have set "a date to get married" even going so far as to "reserve the church" where I attend but explaining to the church people that it may have to change. I am just hoping that we have our petition approval by March 15, 2010 and an interview for the visa at the Ottawa Canada Consulate by June 15, 2010 so we can be married on July 11, 2010! The forecast for our petition approval looks to be mid January and that is more than good.

So about the expiration dates on the petition approval. It says it is good for four months. Does that mean the consulate has four months to deal with us? Once we have the visa from the consulate, how long is the visa good for? My fiance' wants to work up to a week or so before our wedding and then move to the U.S. I know we have to get married within 90 days and WE WILL once he gets to the states. Just curious as we try to plan a specific wedding day without knowing the specific approval date or interview date.

Welcome to the thread!!!

Your wedding date sounds well enough in advance that everything might just work out very nicely! I have a friend who set her wedding date and planned during the K-1 process, and although it did get a little tight as it came closer to the day, it all worked out in the end.

As for the expiration dates, technically the NOA2 is valid for four months, but the consulate can ultimately take as little or as much time as they want with your case. If you find yourself coming close to the four month mark, some consulates automatically extend the NOA2 validity. I'm not sure if Canada is one of them. Chances are you won't need to worry about it. Once you are given the visa, it is good for six months, so your fiance doesn't have to enter the US right away if he wants to work a bit longer. That's probably a good idea

Yes, but I don't see any logic in it whatsoever... The big question is: based on what data forecast dates are changing? Up to this day, I was pretty sure that it reflects stats of our Timelines... But now...

Figured this mistery out. Math, as usual, is a wonderful science with strict rules it follows. It is just I'm dumb :) The secret is that there is one record in September, for couple which went through the expedited processing procedure, due to the fact that one of them is serving in US military. So, as a result, they received there NOA1 on September 25 and week later they got their NOA2. That is a reason, why their record is hiding - it is happened more than 2 months ago! However, Timeline accurately counts this September 25th, calculating an average for September, which is September 12, currently. So, yes... Unfortunately, current Timeline saying about the dates CSC is currently working on is a bit misleading... by a good week, at the very least. That we all would need to keep in mind, looking at it. Obviously, the more CSC would be progressing through the month, the less would be this gap between real and calculated dates. And the date will become trustworthy again as soon as will see first 25th or later date in the list of latest 15 petitions, being approved by CSC.

I feel like there's a bit of doom and gloom around here lately. Maybe it's the winter weather. Well, it's wintery where I am, anyway. We are getting pounded with snow! My office even closed early today. I hope everyone else is doing well and staying warm.

What's everyone planning for the holidays/Christmas? If you are going to see your SO, lucky you :P but what are your plans? If you're not going to be together for the holidays, what are you doing to stay close?

I'm thinking of mailing a care package/Christmas presents to my fiance, but there are apparently some mail strikes going on in England, which kinds of throws a wrench in my plans! :o
