Congrats! Now you can call the NVC and be more likely to have them already have your petition and maybe it is already on its way to your consulate!

Hi Everyone!:) I have just joined this forum. Actually I found this forum a few days ago while we were getting anxious about out petition... We were hoping to get it sooner, but this is a way it goes. We have received our NOA1 on 10/27.

I am getting more impatient every day!:)

Hello lilacvioletiris :-) I am glad I have found the website too.

I am having probably a silly question :-) On the USCIS website there is an information that not every applicantion/applicant will require an interview. What does it mean? Does it occur in some special circumstances? I am sure we will have an interview ( if our petition will be approved) , but did it happen to anyone?

The interview for the K-1 visa occurs for everyone at the consulate in the country your fiance'/fiancee is coming from. The USCIS "interview" may occur too although I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview at that step. First stop is USCIS where they basically look at paperwork and do a background check on the U.S. citizen's name, then the second stop is the National Visa Center where a number is allocated for the visa and another background check on the U.S. citizen's name is done, then the petition goes to the consulate in country of the fiance'/fiancee where there is an interview with supporting documentations like medical report, police certificates, etc. Your fiance' (or fiancee, I can't remember your gender) will definitely be interviewed in their country of origin. But the first 2 steps have to happen first.

lilacvioletiris, thank you for explaining this to me. My fiance is American. We are both living in the UK and we will apply for my visa in London. I am from Poland, but I haven't lived there since 2006. I hope it will be not a problem...

Welcome Gela!

Have you already filed your K-1 fiance(e) visa petition? It's very helpful to all of us, if you have already filed, to fill in your time line :):time:

Gela,

You would be better served by the October Vermont Service Center thread since these people will get approvals around you.

It is found at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=221572

Seems Vermont has slowed down their processing of K-1 visas right now. Don't know about the issues with your location and your citizenship. You may have to go to Poland to interview but I am sure the Department of State will send the petition to the consulate that you will need to interview at.

Hi Beth& John! The timeline it's done. I have just noticed that I am in California Service Thread... I hope you don't mind... I am not much of a forum person...

You of course are welcome to "hang out" with us California Service Center folks! However, I do tend to agree with lilacvioletiris that you might be better served with the VSC folks :) Their timelines and such will better match yours. BUT again, of course you can hang out with us :)

I'm starting to feel really discouraged. I had two touches last week, but haven't heard a thing since. I hope that doesn't mean there's some kind of problem with my petition. I would expect if they intended to send me an RFE they would have done so already. My file date was October 7th, and most of the early October filers have already been approved. Why are they making us wait so long? :(

Just give it a few more days. I know someone from the Sept. filers had touches, but no change in status, then got their NOA2 hard copy in the mail. That could be happening to you. Has it been 7 days since the touches? Have you gotten the mail?

No, it's only been about two working days since the last touch (Friday). I'm signed up for both text and email updates. Is it somewhat common for people not to receive those updates before receiving their hard copy?

I don't know how common it is, but I do know that it has happened. If you read through the Sept. 2009 CSC thread, I think it was Rosie & Yu that had the experience of NOT getting a status update on the USCIS website, except for the touches, and then getting the hard copy in the mail.
