Hi to all vj members! i have a question regarding the application of Removing of Condition. This is the scenario i was approved for a 2 years green card in july 2009 so i will be able to apply the Removing of Condition on May 2011 its under the 90 days window.I am asking about this because i have a plan to visit my mom in philippines next year and my friend told me that if i will going to Philippines even for 2 weeks i cant able to apply the Removing of Condition on May 2011 because it will be extended for 1 year meaning i will be able to apply the Removing of Condition on 2012 because my Residency will be deducted by the time i will going to Philippines.Do you think guys my friend is right for those who experienced like this please share your ideas.Anyway i will looking forward of you guys to share your ideas thank you and god bless.

A 2 week trip has no effect on when you can apply to remove conditions. You may apply anytime up to 90 days prior to your GC expiring, and must apply before it expires all together. I would apply as close to the 90 days prior as you can so that you're sure to get the 1 year extension letter quickly.

She has a GC. No need AP

Yep. She just needs her valid GC or the expired GC and extension letter (if her 2 year GC has expired and she's applied to remove conditions).

not much to add really. Your friend is wrong, you can travel with your greencard and still file to remove conditions 90 days before your greencard expires.

Your friend may just be confused. When you file to remove the conditional status you will receive a letter that extends your greencard by 1 year. They do this because it may take longer than 90 days to process your application and you need something to prove your status once your greencard expires. During the extension period you may also travel, just make sure you have the expired greencard and the extension letter with you.
