I wonder if they look at when it was done. I wasn't aware of how many things we could put my name on, for the first two years of our marriage.

You've probably heard this before, but ideally it's the USC that's done all the research, read all the stuff, and knows whats going on.

Anyway - Be A Reader ! - read all the stuff, map out your plan of document submittal.

Good Luck !

hehe, ideally yes, but that's not how my husband is. I am mrs USC's wife/secretary/bill handler/ phone answerer. So, I'm the one who reads the stuff and give him a short version.

Just for your information, I too adjusted from "out of status" and I did not sent the evidence with the original package. My lawyer adviced me not to. He told me they will not look at it and, since I was adjusting from out of status I would definitely have an interview. That's when all the evidence will come in handy. To be completely honest, if you've been married for 2 years and you only present them with 5 months of joint evidence, is the same as if you say that you do not have previous evidence because you did not have a SSN ( which my lawyer told me it was a perfectly good excuse for not having joint bank accounts and such). IMO if you want to and it makes you feel better, send whatever you want to, its not going to hurt. But know, that if you can't come up with lots of evidence just yet, it is ok. BTW, i was approved in 10 min.

oh wow thank you. I was a bit worried about having evidence only when I have and EAD but nothing really to show for the first 2 years, but I guess it makes sense, no EAD, no bank, no nothing really. :)

I may send some evidence in the package, but I think I will only send copies and bring everything to the interview.

Seems like the out of status issue isn't such a big one. Thank you again vip1 :)

The same here, Kittyfang!

I did not submit any proofs of marriage to USCIS before the interview with any application and there were no problems. I got everything together for the interview only, following the interview letter's check list.

Make sure you put in the package all the other docs requested.

We did the I-130/I-485 route, and let me point out two things. First, the instructions for the I-130 ask for some initial evidence, so I would send at least some. Second, we sent a modest amount:

1. Deed of house owned jointly

2. Utility bill (heating oil)

3. Membership cards from two organizations

4. Retirement beneficiary documents

Notice, that's not much. It was enough. We were not asked for anything else at the interview. So I believe in sending at least some.

(The out-of-status is not any issue at all.)

Same as well... our lawyer did not send anything in the package except required things like tax forms, W-2, marriage license, birth certificates... he said all the "proof" will be shown at the interview. And that's exactly how it went. :)
