Thank you, Richa for your support! No, unfortunately I don't live in NY area..., I am in Wash DC area.

I called USCIS again this afternoon. I was on the phone for about half hour, but I finally placed the service request. These people ask a lot of questions! The request was sent to the Baltimore office, and she added notes that I had my interview, and my bio and that the case was out of the Wash DC office processing times. She also gave me a receipt number and she said that I should hear back in 30 days.

Let's see how it goes now. If I dont hear back in 30 days...maaaaann, I hope it's not the case.

A new hope...

Juliava i'm so glad you were able to place the service request in the end. Jeez you guys have been so unlucky. I'm sure there has to be plenty of good luck coming your way soon. I'm really hoping you get good news within the 30 days

Thank you, Marie!!!!

Today I received an email that confirms the service request placed last week.

The email doesn't say much: the case is under review and we will notify a decision or other notice of action in the mail.

That's it. It doesn't say WHEN or how long it's going to take.

Anyway , it is a step forward.

I got my service request reply back within one week.

Watch it I bet it says "Additional processing"!

I checked that and the answer is NO. It says "review" ONLY. Let me quote:

Type of service requested:

The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action in the mail.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Does it say additional review in yours?

Juliava,

been reading through your posts and do totally feel what you are going through. Sorry to hear about your predicament. I have a similar case though I have not made any infopasses. After our second AOS interview (i-130 interview) in June 2009. We havent heard back from them. During that interview the IO separated us and asked us a series of about 90 questions each and we got most of the answers except 5 minor discrepancies. She said she would contact us if she needed further evidence. Since then we havent heard anything. It has been 8 months. Thankfully my EAD was renewed about 3 weeks ago.

Case status online says in review for the last 8 months, not even the interview has been updated.

I am at a loss on what to do after reading through what other people have said, about making infopasses, contacting your congressman, do these really work???

Have lived in the US for 16 years on different visas, A2, F1, left and came back on B1/B2 then married and filed for AOS. Have a clean background and have 40 work quarters from previous EADs.

June 2008 filed i-130/i-1485

June 2008 Biometrics done

Aug 2008 RFE

Nov 2008 Case resumed

March 2009 EAD and AP approved

April 2009 notice of Initial interview recieved

May 19th 2009 Initial AOS interview performed and i-94 taken

May 21st 2009 Letter for I-130 interview received

June 23rd 2009 I-130 interview: no decision made

Dec 2009: Renewal EAD submitted

Jan 2009: EAD renewal approved

Case still pending

I checked that and the answer is NO. It says "review" ONLY. Let me quote:

So today I called the USCIS customer service number 1-800-375-5283 just to find out why my status is still in review and yet I already did the 1st and 2nd interview. (My online status with my MSC number is stuck in 'initial review' for months now). The customer service lady was very nice and she informed me that my application is definitely outside the normal processing time. So she gives me a referral number and says that she will forward my information to the Local USCIS office handling my case and I should hear from them within 45 days. If I dont hear anything then I should call the customer service number again.

The overall phone call experience was very good and encouraging, the lady was polite too. I am hoping this is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Soila- I wish you good luck! I have done the same thing you have done. I placed the service request in January and I have about 1 week left to reach the 45 days term and still nothing. I am about to schedule another infopass soon because of this. I don't know what to believe anymore, but hopefully things will work out for both of us!

Juliava, you are WAY past your processing timelines and just do what I did. Start sheduling infopasses every two weeks now. Don't wait for the 45 day term each time you approach them. I visited them every two weeks and finally got them to realize they need to act. Good Luck and do keep us posted.

Oh, I know I am way behind!!! I didn't have time to post, but yes- I scheduled an info pass for March 2nd. I will post the experience. Seems like placing the service request did not work for me, so I guess I will have to schedule info passes more often.

My 2nd infopass..yesterday!

I waited 45 minutes in a long line just to check in and get a number. After that I waited another hour and a half for my turn. At some point - out of 11 counters total- there were only 2 working - lunch break I guess.

However...my turn. The lady looked at my information. I told her I was interviewed in September, fingerprints after that...the whole story again. She checked in the system- ALL good. I also mentioned I placed a service request in January and there were more than 45 days and no answer. I gave her the service request number and she noticed that the service request number had the Baltimore office code. She asked me why it's not the Wash DC office. I told her I have no clue why, but I moved in November last year in MD and that probably explains verything. I did everything to change my address and last time I was there on my 1st infopass - that was in November-the lady confirmed the change of address.

Guess what? She sais-the case is not in their jurisdiction anymore and needs to be transferred to the Baltimore office. I asked why it hasn't been done until now?I was there in November on an infopass and we talked about my address! Why I was told just to wait and the case was not transferred then?or at least why it hasn't been done when I placed the service request? Why I had been told all this time that the "case is under review" when obviously NOBODY's hands were on it?

The only answers I got to all my questions were "I don't know".

So ladies and gentlemen, I have to wait 3-4 weeks for the case to be transferred to Baltimore. After that hopefully it won't take long.

At the end I couldn't help it and I told the lady "I hope my file won't get lost on its way to Baltimore".

I can't believe this!I am extremely mad at this!

I'm so sorry, Juliava. I hope things move quickly once your papers get moved to Baltimore. I can't believe there was such a huge miscommunication within USCIS. I've watched your posts and feel so badly for all the headaches you've had to put up with. Hopefully it'll all be done with soon.
