Hello MENA(Salam) ,

We are planning a trip back to Egypt this upcoming New Year(Beginning of February)InshaAllah. Our family is 3(2 adults and 1 two yr.) now and I was hoping that you could suggest a resonably priced round trip ticket site. Maybe even tell who you used, so that we can shop around.

The direct flight (NY to EG)would cost and arm and 2 legs! Egyptair was $3,500.00 !!!

I have looked on www.cheaptickets.com & www.expedia.com, it seems the average is $1,200.00 per person round trip with a couple of stops. I am way...down south(Louisiana) so I already know to expect many connection flights !

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated

My suggestion...and its worked for us everytime if you have a travel agent for your workplace.

We have a Corporate Travel department and I just ask them to assist me. They have found SUPER low rates for us and then I book based on their information by myself. It's worth a shot or if you have a friend that works for a large company they might be able to assist you.

Have a blast!!! I am planning on heading back too...but not till early next year alone with the twins. Ughh...I can only imagine the trip with the twins alone with me! Hubby can't make the trip with us....he's stuck keeping up the house!

Thanks for the advice. I havent been since my daughter was 5 months old...she is now 2 ! My hubby went last year for about a month and it liked to kill us, being away from him. Just for shitts and gigs I looked up tix prices on Egyptair.com. From NYC to CAI for two adults, one child in Feb 2010 cost $2,383.43 taxes included. Did you look on the Egyptair site? They have the cheapest prices IMO.

I think your information could be incorrect, I was under the impression it was atleast 1 arm, 2 legs and a ear or two. Maybe even a few fingers! Where you from in Louisiana? I just moved from from there. I lived there for about 7 years. I swear the mosquito should have been named the state bird!

When we went with the baby(4mos old) they charged us additional luggage charge for her, even though with all the other airlines she was free !

If by "long layover" in Amsterdam you mean that 12-hour layover... I do not envy you. I've traveled through Amsterdam twice on my way to Egypt and it is painful even for 4-6 hours, let alone 12! Especially on the US-to-Egypt side of it, being stuck for 12 hours after you just got off a plane for 10 hours... blech.

We flew Airfrance for our last trip overseas, they had nice toys and meals for my kid. They are a little more expensive, and to be honest it was pretty equivalent to KLM, which is usually less expensive. When we booked, though, Airfrance was the cheapest. Previously I flew Northwest/KLM and for my first trip it was NW/KLM/Egyptair. That last combination was the cheapest, but it was also in December/January, which tends to be the least expensive time for Egypt...
