I will not let my kids get the vaccination. Firstly Im against most vaccines anyway after my son was diagnosed with autism.

Anywho, when the makers of the vaccine stated they were not even going to take it, why should we?

Both of my kids have had the swine flu, all of us have had it actually, I'm finally getting over it. I thank all of the inconsiderate parents who let their sick kids keep going to school so it can spread and be taken home for it to spread more.

The President's daughters haven't taken their H1N1 shots either.

Don't forget that the Pharma companies are exempt from any liability if the vaccine causes health issues.

The more I read, the more confused I am. I talked to Adi's ped and she said no vaccinations available till dec anyways and since he is only 7 months old there is also no treatment available if he gets it. They will treat babies for pneumonia and dehydration which is what 90% of the babies get if they get the H1N1. I think I might be freaking out because if I get it, we do not have any place that Adi can stay so he doesn't get it from me (my family in India and Daniel's family, well the less said the better!). Also because Adi is on antibiotics since he was 3 months old as he has a grade 1 reflux that can give him UTI till he outgrows the condition. Daniel got the swine flu while he was in Iraq (the soldiers replacing them carried it from here) so he's safe. For now Adi and I are just staying inside and keeping things clean. Hopefully this will pass soon.

:(

Hope that those of you with underlying conditions seek the vaccine where publicly available- you get dibs before healthy folks.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Your ped is correct, there is no liquid form avaliable. My 4 yr old got the swine flu at the beginning of the month, as did my 13 yr old daughter. He was not able to be treated bc they have no liquid form for him, she was given a prescription for TAMAFLU, which by the way, not one pharmacy in my area had a supply of. So I treated them both with over the counter meds. My daughter however ended up spending 3 days admitted into the hospital. it was hard to watch, but she made it thru, and so did my lil guy thankfully without being hospitalized. I survived it as well, and i have serious medical conditions, including a very low immune system.

and yes, the presidents daughters were vaccinated today.

Tamiflu is not recommended for children at all:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/swine-fl...esearchers.html

A sufficient level of vitamin D is really important to fight the flu:

http://www.independent.ie/health/vitamin-d...sk-1924363.html

http://www.foodconsumer.org/newsite/Nutrit...protection.html

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...sk-in-Kids.aspx

http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/newsletter/...vitamin-d.shtml

So if your kids come down with it, make sure they stay hydrated, take vitamin C, D and A. Viral infections tend to deplete vitamin A.

I had swine flu for 5 days and it was just like a bad cold, I continued to nurse my son (then 10 months) and as said before somewhere here, he had a slight fever for two days, then coughed slightly and was fine again. Nothing bad at all. My husband had swine flu last week for 3 days, took plenty vitamins and I made him drink lots of tea and water, et voila, he's fine.

As an asthmatic, I've always gotten the seasonal flu shot. This year I got both the seasonal and the H1N1 (I was able to get it as a caregiver of a child under 6 months old). Even if the swine flu in most cases is not so bad, I'd rather not have it - it's hard enough caring for a newborn as it is.

H1N1 + asthma = worse than seasonal flu.

This is like the case of breast cancer in African Americans. White women are diagnosed more per capita, yet die less since African American women have less access to adequate health care on a statistical level.

H1N1 is no trivial virus, and when it kills, it makes the regular influenza virus pathology seem like a common cold.

Yeah, my dad has been strongly urging me (I have asthma) to get both vaccines and even my wife. She doesn't want to get either shots -- and that's her choice -- but I'd feel better if she did.

Well, my two 20 months old got their seasonal and H1N1 shots this morning. Other than a quick cry like for every shot they have ever gotten, they have had no adverse effect and the free lollipop they got was much appreciated and shown off to other kids at the playground afterwards :)

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
