Hi,

Our situation is as follows and we want some inputs on that with reference to affidavit of support.

1. My fiancee does not work in a job and she lives off of her savings.

2. We understand that we need to submit affidavit of support showing 125% income above the poverty level.

3. We understand that we can use property which she has as part of affidavit of support.

4. I read the faq on here that my savings do not have much impact rather my fiancee who is applying for my

k1 visa is the one who has to produce the income level needed.

5. We understand that we can have a joint sponsor for this.

Is there any way we can handle without a joint support?

How can we properly produce a viable affidavit of support in this situation?

What options do we have in our situation?

Please give your comments/advice on what we should do and proceed.

Thanks,

-vi

if you read the instructions for I-134, it asks for last year's W2 forms and tax returns. That might help if you couple that with the savings/bonds and the house.

something else that I have heard people do is to transfer the benefitiary's money into the petitioner's bank account and leave it there until the interview comes. You can show that as part of the income as well. Not sure if this will fly with some people here.

I also have a question regarding this and don't mean to jump on your wagon. I do have a job that will get me passed the 125% income above poverty and am paying mortgage for a house. Do i need to list that house? I'd rather not if i don't have to.

If she has enough assets (property, savings etc) to sponsor you, no co-sponsor is needed- this is what we did. As you mention she has property, get a current evaluation and submit this. If part of the property has a mortgage on it, then you need to show this too.

Second poster: As long as your income is over the threshold, no need to list any assets.
