Affidavit of support

Hi,

My fiance has an interview date at the Russian embassy in Moscow.

I am gathering everything that she will need.

The affidavit of support may be difficult.

I work for different people at different times of the year.

Same people same times every year.

I am paid and given a 1099 by some at the end of the year.

I am able to take plenty of deductions which can make my income look much lower

than it actually is.

What are my options for showing my income.

I have bank statements that show my deposits.

Would this be sufficient?

I never thought it would ever get this far-)

I don't want to redo my taxes and get killed by the IRS.

I don't have anyone who I could ask to sign on as a sposor.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

You need to be concerned with what line 22 on your 1040 form states as your income.

They are not concerned with who you worked for, how many people/companies you worked for or how difficult it is for you to supply them with the required documentation to show you can support your fiance and she will not become a public charge to the US.

Your bank statements will substantiate your income and it would not hurt to gather those documents, will it be sufficent?...who knows. The question is are you willing to try it, and risk the possibility of a prolonged visa waiting time period or an outright denial.

Many of us have had to bite the bullet and given up "allowable expenses, depreciation and otherwise items that can be written off" for the sake of passing the interview and then AOS after marriage. After that it will not be a problem anymore.

Maybe you should ask some of these questions in the regional forum for Russia, maybe they are a little more lenient and don't require some things at your embassy, I can only tell you of my own experience dealing with the Philippines embassy, one of the more stringent consulates when it comes to obtaining a visa.

Whichever you decide or whatever you have to do....I wish you luck.
