Am getting documentation ready for affidavit of support and looking on uscis i see this....

A photocopy or an Internal Revenue Service-issued transcript of a photocopy or an Internal Revenue Service-issued transcript of your complete Federal income tax return for your most recent tax year, or an explanation if it is not submitted. Your W-2s and/or 1099 forms may also be required, see the I-864 instructions for details.

What exactly is the 1099 form?

Was planning on sending w2's and copy of tax return.

Then you cant provide them with a 1099, if you dont have additional income.

a 1099 example is if you have student loans out for college (the interest) and the same thing if you have a bank account and they charged interest.. things of that nature (misc stuff) You can't show it if you don't receive one.

A 1099 is also income that you don't pay any taxes on until the end of the year. For an example, some people are private contractors (Therapist, Nurse etc..) they would receive a 1099.

Get tax transcripts from IRS and use them. You don't have to worry about anything then as they are more valid than returns. You don't need W2s or 1099s then.

They are free and take about a week to get. 800-829 1040. get the last 3 years while your at it.
