I know you're wanting to get off the drugs and such but if you have to use them I think Lunesta is a lot better than Ambien. Ambien never made me sleep (although it sounds like it works for you) but Lunesta really helps since it helps you fall asleep and stay asleep whereas a lot of other medicines just help you fall asleep. It doesn't ever make me really "tired" like I'm just going to pass out, it's kind of slow, and I still wake up in the night (which is why I took it, I'd wake up and start thinking and not go back to sleep) but I find it a lot easier to just go right back to sleep without my mind waking up.
