Another question....I have been with my Fiancee over a year now...and been to the Philippines many times and stayed together for long periods of time....recently spent 3 months together May-August......before we were together I had other Gf's there who were older.........she and I just click.....here is my question.

She is young and there is about 30 years difference in our ages....and while I know it is frowned upon in American Culture....there it is really no big deal......

However how will they look upon it in the application process and interview???

Any others experience this???

Thank You in Advance for your replies.....

So you are saying they see a lot of that there in the Interviews?

Not a big deal?

Trisha and I are 27 years different. We had no issues. Documentation of the relationship is key. I had been to Phil 8 times to see her and was at the USEM when she was interviewed. I know a few other couples personally who have seen no issues and they have similar age differences.

Best of luck

Refer to the pinned topic above. I doubt it will be a problem as it is common for men to be consierable older than their wives in the PI and is not a cultural red flag. If someone else has a problem with it, it is their problem and maybe THEY will have difficulty sleeping at night but I would'nt lose sleep over what someone else thinks of my personal life. You are both consenting adults...best of luck to you!

I agree with George&Hazel and ditto for Thailand/Asia.

Fear not; American culture frowns on practically everything.

My dysfunctional family (who doesn't frown on us, not yet at least)

frowns on practically everything. Americans don't know how out

of step they are with the rest of the world until they see how

open-minded the rest of the world is.

Way before I married my now ex-Japanese wife (who WAS age

appropriate for me!) I had a long term Japanese girlfriend who

was 11 years age my senior. We had a great relationship

(unlike my very rocky marriage), but there was no possibility

of kids in the picture so we parted friends. My Thai fiancee

is 10 years my junior and everyone says we look like the

perfect couple.

The bold part is more of an issue in RP.....NOT the AGE.

Simply because there is no divorce in that country....only ANNULMENT (expensive and time consuming)

and most of the time the fact there "BOTH Parties ARE NOT FREE TO MARRY" is kept hidden until it show up in documents....

So if relationship is genuine....i would not loose much sleep over it....about the age.

Hmmm. I am currently not more than double my wifes age, but I was at one point!

And the "jealousy" seems to be directed more at my wife by Katty liberated American women. "oh, how nice, you are from Ukraine, how long are you visiting for?" Oh, I am not visiting, I am a permanent resident and live here with my husband. "Oh and is your husband a refugee from Russia also?" No, my husband is an American, and I will soon be teaching your children to speak ENGLISH. "Grrrrrrrr...lost ANOTHER one to a Bond Girl"

That made me giggle. I love America, I really do... but they are a bit... self centered. I've been asked if we celebrate Christmas in Canada, why thanksgiving is on a different day and, although it's never been honestly asked, I KNOW that some of them are dying to ask me if we live in Igloos.

I have not had any negative, racist comments so far, maybe because I am white, so it's harder for them to figure out that I'm not from there, but the accent (French Canadian) definatly makes me stand out. I don't care, I love it. It's not so big an accent that they can't understand me, most of them tell me it's lovely, or sexy, depending on who is doing the compliment.

As for frowning down on everything. I would add a correction. My husband's family is very loving and takes care of its own. They are old fashion, but I know that they wouldn't "cast us out" simply because they don't agree with something we're doing (luckily, I get along with them and it's never come to that). However, I would say that America, as a whole, is very judgmental... and pushy. For a country built on freedom and the right to happiness, they are very interested in telling you what they think your happiness should be and how you should acquire it . The key is to ignore it. Do your own thing. Live your own life. Because at the end of the day, you have to be able to live with what you do and say.
