I was wondering roughly how long it is taking these days for the petition to get entered into the system once the embassy receives it and then how long the current wait for an interview is once the petition is in the system/at the call center. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

recently appointment times have been available within a week after getting into the scheduling system

Oh that's encouraging and sort of what we are hoping for as we've heard they're not real busy there these days. Thank you very much for your help!

Once NVC sends it...2-3 weeks to get in the system and less than 5 days lead time for interviews after that.

On 23 September we verified by phone from NVC that the case was sent to Kiev. We tried the call center (for appointment) on 30 Sept and the case was not in the system. We called on 5 October and were given an interview date of 21 October. ;)

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

The consulate still updates the call center on Friday evenings AFTER the call center closes. Call them on Monday morning (as Zip and Barbara did). If they do not have your case they WILL NOT have it until the next Monday, at least. No need to call over and over again. Also if you email the consulate they will not tell you they have the case until it is in the system. Do NOT expect that they will send an email saying "Yeah, it's here but we haven't entered it yet, we'll get to it soon". It is either there (and in the system) or NOT there. And when they say it is "not there" they say something like "We have no record of your case" as if it doesn't exist and never did. I cannot say how many times posters here have said that they tried to track a DHL delivery to Kiev around the time it was "supposed" to be delivered and then Kiev said "it is not here" and there was all sorts of panic. There is some sort of system used by some masochistic VJ members to try and guess when A package was delivered to A consulate and then guess what was inside this package. No, I do not know the way to do this as I am not interested in anything so stunningly ridiculous. Besides if your petition is sitting in an unopened box in the Kiev mail room, it does you no good anyway. Kiev processes a LOT of visa petitions and applications, you will be shocked how many people are there everyday for visa interviews (only a few for K visas) and ALL of those have to be processed and entered in the system.

If you are going to try and track this like a Fedex package (you CAN'T) then wrap your head in duct tape now so when it explodes you keep all the pieces!

Just curious, was that a date YOU picked for the interview? As of just a couple weeks ago an applicant calling on a Tuesday (an aquaintance) was offered an appointment the NEXT DAY. It was too soon and they went until the next week as they needed to schedule her medical for the day before. When I made our appointment for a K-2 to follow in June I was being offered dates 3-5 days in advance but needed a certain day because of our son's school considerations. Hpwever. VSC has recently been burning up the place with K petition approvals and Kiev limits the K visas to just a few each day, so they may have picked up a few days on their lead time.

Incidentally. The medical clinic has been closing on Wednesdays and the consulate has been not doing K interviews on Fridays. So bear that in mind if you are trying to do the medical one day and the interview the next day.

Jim

Just remember, if they say it "isn't there" it does not mean it isn't there. It just means it is not in the system, don't panic.

Just curious, was that a date YOU picked for the interview?

My fiance made the call. She may have been considering that she needed the Med and Police Certs, so she may have made it later. She has those now, by the way. Also, another note here. After you purchase a PIN, be aware that the toll free number is likely not to accept the PIN. I was warned of this by the operator when I bought it. I tried it several times using the US toll free number. Of course I had to call the direct number (international rates) only to talk to the very same operator who sold me the PIN in the first place just 10 minutes prior. So, after my first experience my fiance called them, as the number was not so international for her.

We are all set and ready for our interview. Sadly, I am unable to attend. I just visited in early September and have no vacation days left. :(

I never had a problem with using the PIN. Except it is more expensive than phone sex and Viktoria, as nice as she is...well. Anyway, all summer thay have only been booking 2-3 weeks in advance and weren't opening dates until then. I waited until early June to get an interview for our sons K-2 to follow June 25. Every time I would call and ask if June 25 was open, Viktoria would say "No, not yet but we can get you in tomorrow" or some such. After a while she would just say "Hello, Gary, no June 25 is not open yet" I was afraid it would open and eveyone would book the date and wee needed that date! LOL

There are only two people at the call center for Ukraine (the call center is in Poland) and they sell the PINs and make the appointments. Viktoria (morning) and Vitaly (afternoon) and they overlap for a few hours. No one should know this much about a call center. Best time to call is between 8-9 am KIEV time, 1-2am on the east coast.
