We just got our NOA2 and assume the interview date at embassy will more then likely be in December. I will be flying there from Florida to be at interview. assuming she is approved, there will be her and her son (10 yrs. old) and myself flying back to Florida.

I will already have my round trip ticket. How will I get 2 more tickets at that time on the same plane with seating next to each other going to Florida? Seems almost impossible to do. Because round trip tickets are about same cost as one-way and If I purchase well in advance I could buy 3 round trip tickets with only 1 of the seats being used on the way there and all 3 on the way back. Not sure if this makes sense or not so I could use some suggestions from someone that has gone thru this.

Sorry but not everyone "sails" thru the medical and interview. Have your wife and child checked for TB NOW. Takes 2 months extra if they show signs of TB. 6 months to cure.

I did and my stepdaughter had PS and had to get treatment which took a while,

That I can not recommend you to purchase a roundtrip ticket for them. Because the airline will tagged them as no show on the outbound flight and basically it will cancel the entire roundtrip flight. Just get the two tickets for one way flight and make sure that you get them in the same flight. I would suggest you to book a flight with Expedia, save an itinerary and make sure the flight numbers and time is the same when you are going to book the 2 one way flights for them ( your return flight also).

I have been checking some flights in December, and it's kinda bit high or expensive. But it is still your choice.

Good Luck And Congratulations.

Thanks for the reply. Most likely we will not fly out of Manila till after Jan 1 because of the cost, it drops considerably after first week of Jan.The real trick is getting 2 tickets on the same flight as mine with adjoining seats.

I would recommend you purchase your ticket once you already have the visa stamped on your passport. and she already has her passport in hand. :)

I had my interview in December. We pretty much knew with our short timeline and more than complete paperwork that we wouldn't have any problem at the interview, but we did not plan on getting tickets till after the interview. Nor did we have any intention of flying out soon after the interview as we wanted to spend that last christmas holiday with my family. My husband and I researched the possibility of him getting a roundtrip ticket and us getting one-way tickets taht would coincide with his return ticket. It was very tricky, not to mention really hard to do that. Plus, it was really expensive. We looked at trips for April (after my daughter finished the schoolyear, which we thought was a more practical thing to do rather than have her start school here midway thru the US schoolyear when she was practically done with the Philippine schoolyear). The cheapest flight we could find would cost us almost $4000...and that being my daughter only had to pay 75% of her fare. My first time to travel outside the Philippines with a child in tow...wasn't hard, really. So, we opted for him to cancel his flight and just put myself and my daughter on a flight to the US.

Think about the (almost slim) possiblity of getting the same flight as your return flight...and the cost.

OP, you have already received all the simple answers and responses: "dont buy tickets until visa in hand"

No one is really supporting you in your original quest to have pinay and anak fly home with you. I am here to support this wish, so here is my response to you.

It is possible to have a travel agent put two tickets on a "stand by" mode on your current flight/plane ticket home and not have to pay for them until you know for sure that visas are issued, and pinay and anak are ready to travel with you.

The most useful travel agency I personally have experience in doing this is Destination Specialists. I dealt with the Cebu branch at the mall, but I believe they have other branches, at least in Manila.

Good luck in your quest to Bring 'em on home with you!

It looks like you have some real good advise. I thought my fiancee would be here by now, but she had a scar on a lung, so everything is being delayed by 8 weeks. I would wait until after the interview. Maybe see if Air21 will notify you when the visa and passport are being delivered. Maybe they will even let you pick up the parcel at some location that serves your province.

Good luck and God bless,

Dale
