My fellow R.U.B.(bers),

Obviously, it varies a bit ... but generally about 2 months. The Embassy hasn't updated the online interview schedule in over a month now. I assume you know your MOS #. Given the dates you list in your timeline, I would suggest e-mailing ( consulMo@state.gov ) or calling the Embassy and asking if an interview has been scheduled yet.

I wrote the embassy. All I received from them was a generic e-mail telling me that they will get to reading my e-mail when they can and referred me to the web site. I do have an "MOS" # but it is not on the interview page yet. Janna just flew back to Russia yesterday so we both don't know if she received her invitation yet. I think I will call them asap. The Embassy is closed for Columbus day correct?

I suspect that the e-mail meant that your interview hadn't yet been scheduled at the time they received the e-mail. Many others (including me) have had no trouble getting our interview dates via e-mail.

The packet can sometimes take quite a while for the fiancee to receive --- and quite a few of them never receive it. Don't worry if the fiancee doesn't receive it-- there is no information contained there that isn't on the website (and make sure to look at the section on the website regarding Panel Physicians -- a couple of requirements there that she'll need as well)

But yes, the Visa Section will be closed Monday.

When you email the Embassy, you get the automatic notification of receipt. They have always gotten back to me in about 3-4 business days. Yes they are closed for all US and Russian Holidays, actually a good gig.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Hahaha def a good gig!!! I sent the e-mail on the 6th so after this Tues. if I have no response I'm going to call the embassy. Janna won't be back to Yekaterinburg until the 13th or so. She has to go to her parents in Tuimazy so she can request her police certs from Ufa.

So I have been reading a little about different embassies and the individual difficulties in places like Vietnam, China, and most of S.E. Asia. I also have read that Ukraine is a relatively easier embassy on k-1 visas. Anyone have info on Moscow? I have read the reviews, most seem pretty positive.

I'm a worrier so until this interview is over I will be in a panic. :bonk: Maybe it is time to try to get a Valium prescription??????

If you've made it this far.... as long as you and your fiancee have all of the documents in line, there should be no problem. Moscow is a fairly easy Embassy and denials of K1's are very (perhaps you could even say extremely) rare.

I emailed the Embassy asking if they had received the case yet and they wrote back within 3 days and told me they had and when and that the interview was scheduled for Nove 13th. At the time that was only a month and a half. It seems like they are trying to catch up on emails they seem to be slow so I would try calling them instead.

Yeah, I gonna call them on Tues. See what they say.

Congrats on getting a date. You must be excited, it's coming up soon. :)
