I have been scouring the forum but haven't seen a thread regarding interviews.

Do many of these ROC applications get to the point where an interview is required? What are the precursors?

I've yet to see one yet. We didn't. As long as you have enough evidence. No problem.

There was a number of interviews reported by joint filers.

Some of it is random draw and some of it is because there are "red flags" or insufficient documentation.

Most waiver filers get interviews and most joint filers don't.

Very few I-751 applicants get interviews. If there are red flags in your application, or if you do something silly like forget to sign the application, you may end up getting called in for an interview. If your application is perfectly fine, you may end up getting called in for a very perfunctory interview due to 'statistical' requirements - that means they need to interview a certain percentage of applicants and some are just randomly selected. All of the interviews I have read of here for happily married couples have been of the 'random sampling' type - and the interview is little more than showing up in person, saying hi and getting approved. I wouldn't lose any sleep over whether or not you will get an interview, nor if you do - unless there is something in your application that leaves your relationship open to speculation.

We had an interview 9/15. It must have been random because the lady said she did not know why were were required to have an interview. I gave her some updated information and she said she had plenty. She could not approve us. She said it would have to go to the powers that be. I believe she was a trainee. We got an e-mail on 9/30 saying the 10 year GC was ordered. My wife got hers last week. Her daughter has not received hers yet. We are going to call USCIS tomorrow.

Interesting scenario, John. Sounds like it wasa random interview done for the sake of meeting some quota but why it was with a person who sounds like she is in training and who couldn't approve you guys on herself is odd.

Our application is also very thorough, w/o any 'red flags' and the only reason we'd be called in would be for the same reason - pure randomness. I'm just hoping that isn't the case as I don't particularly like the idea.
