I have been notified that I have a Biometrics appointment setup , can someone tell me a bit about this? What do they do? is this a good sign so far? thanks

I assume you are doing AOS. If that is the case, this is a good sign. Everyone has to do it. The foreign citizen comes in when the notice says to. Bring what it says to. They take finger prints, pictures, and maybe something else of that sort. It should go pretty fast.

Someone said you can try to come in early and do I walk-in. I don't know much about this.
