I'm not just proud that an American won. If Ted Bundy won, I wouldn't be happy would I?

If a Republican won, you'd be proud, regardless of which Republican, you partisan hack.

I mean, I like the prez... but this is beyond absurdity. Me thinks he should politely decline it.

that would be the honorable thing to do, but i'm afraid the runner up would be acorn.

I agree. Or at least put his acceptance on hold until he actually achieves something other than taking over banks and auto-companies. (if at all).

Haha not true. I know you'd like to think that, but it isn't true.

If a repub (with so few qualifications) won as Obama has, i'd be just as PO'd. Maybe slightly less given that the world media never would have had a love affair with a repub.

I think that would be difficult to be honest - it's a bit of a catch 22 situation in my opinion. Whoever nominated him should be shot though ;)

The world media doesn't have a love affair with Obama Joe, try reading something other than fox news for a change.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Carry on being too dull-minded to recognize yourself and too brain dead to know what love of America is.

Oh puh-leeze.

How long before the Right gets over this? I know typically, women grieve for at least a couple of weeks after a break up....but if you guys need more time, I'll do my best to tolerate the emotional outbursts.

I seee we've found the righteous indignation / outrage story of the day.

How about every other day when the outrage story is about a Republican against health care reform? Or a right wing nut saying something nutty!

I obviously don't know a whole lot about the Nobel Peace Prize because I thought someone had to do a lot more to get it. I don't hate Obama or wish him ill, but the thought of him already getting the peace prize - well, ok then...seems silly to me.

To be honest some people are so biased that they won't criticize Obama when he needs to be criticized and they won't praise him(on the other side) when he needs to be praised either.

You see, that's just what pisses me off - why is it everything that comes up must be evaluated in light of something entirely hypothetical - for the sake of conversational relativism?

Lets at least be honest here.

I don't know why Obama got the peace prize, and I can't say I much care. Perhaps he doesn't deserve it in the sense of accomplishment - but the fact remains surely - that this is something that was awarded to him by an international panel outside of his control. You can criticise the guy all you like - but its not like he gave himself the award.

If we are talking VJ, then it's a fact that almost every political thread posted is some outrage about something. Every day! lol

In real life, I wouldn't really compare much because most people I see don't talk about politics much. But on VJ, it's noticeable to me how the double standards are a lot of the time about which outrage is acceptable. But I don't condone the angry behavior of people who can't seem to say anything good ever about Obama. But still I see double standards.

I'm not sure I see how I'm presenting the idea that a certain kind of outrage is acceptable. I just think that this is a very small story - and there are better things to criticise Obama for than winning a prize that most people already know is very controversial.

It may be too early to give the award to OBAMA, We should all the proud and excited that AN AMERICAN WON< HE"S AMERICAN< DID I JUST SAY THAT< AN AMERICAN< AN AMERICAN WON< AN AMERICAN, AND HE HAPPENS TO BE OUR PRESIDENT (including you right wingers) what OUR PRESIDENT Needs is Our PRAYER, for all the tremendous task that lay ahead, GIVE HIM A CHANCE< GIVE AMERICA A CHANCE< CHEERS FOR AMERICA, America needs an end to that Division Politics, an end to that brainwashing, WE NEED TO START USING OUR OWN MIN RATHER THAN NEWS TITBITS.

AREN'T YOU PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN?

Proud to be an American - absolutely. But not because of Obama.

What I find interesting is that any nation where their people are free have never had a reason to fear us. The only accomplishment that Obama has brought is that now tyrants and dictators have no reason to fear us either.

Americans are proud of what our country represents - and never by who happens to represent us. To do so undermines our own reason for existing in the first place. One only has to read and understand our Declaration of Independence and Constitution to comprehend that.

If you're trying to suggest that the US' motives in going to war have been altruistic - I really don't agree with that.

Should we destroy the Lincoln Memorial or the Washington Memorial first?
