Sorry to hear that you have been having so many computer problems. 250 viruses in 3 months is an obscene amount. I can't even begin to imagine how that is happening, but that is definitely not normal and you should perhaps hire a computer professional to examine your computer/network & browsing habits in an attempt to figure out where all of these viruses are coming from. I maybe get 1 virus a year, and that's a bad year (and the virus is of course stopped by my AV software). I still do a little bit of personal consulting on the side (when I have time) and while I've seen some real horror stories I've never heard about anyone attracting this many viruses. There are many ways to explain what happened to your system, but simply installing Spybot is not one of them. It doesn't sound like you even ran the software. I hope all is back to normal for your computer!

EDIT: If you do hire someone to examine your system, browsing habits, and security, I suggest you consider only hiring someone with proven experience and success in the field. There are bad doctors, lawyers, and also computer "professionals" out there - make sure you find a good one always.

I downloaded 144 in one pop. I used to visit watch_movies and on there you can watch live stream movies without downloading. I assumed it was safe since you did not have to download a movie to watch it. I clicked on ice age and instantlt download 144 viruses. Then once again, I did the same thing on another site, same result. Totally learned my lesson and no more streaming movies! You would think working selling computers I could sell antivirus with it.. amazing how many ppl want to buy a computer and surf without anything. I had avg when I had those viruses... but they did not heal them. As far as professionals... I have geek squad where I work,...so thats a help! "A little..."

I think I got a virus from vj. Everytime I refresh my screen on vj another screen pops up with k1 and k3 stuff and things about meeting ppl and chat. Vj is the only thing I have been on. And I just started looking at a few of the threads on vj tonight and it just started coming up. I did find one trojan and still scanning my computer. :crying:

Maybe. My wife ended up with two instances of Malware-Generic A that were quickly dispatched to quarrantine by my AV software. She claims she only visited Friendster and VJ during that session [yesterday]. Of course, she didn't notice what she clicked on that attempted to infect the computer.

VJ has tons of links inserted in posts that are attached to various malwares, trojans etc. If you are browsing the website I highly suggest you never click on a link in a post that takes you out of VJ.

When I first joined this website I was routinely cleaning 2-5 various malwares, viruses, trojans etc everytime I came to the site. Now when I come here I never click a link in someones post and I get zero.

I've never seen anything like this on VJ. Can you provide an example of a post with such a link?

VJ server side has no virus or malware infections or injections. If there are links on the forums from members to that point to web pages with malware or viruses unfortunately we can not control or know about this unless you tell us (we can remove the links if it was spam or unintentional).

I understand it is easy to blame a website but understand that web pages are extremely interlinked to outside sources which in many cases are where you may be getting things.

I concur.

While viruses are almost non-existent in Linux, malware infections, on the other hand, are possible.

Possible, sure, but much less likely. Linux (and UNIX in general) has been architected with user-level security built in from the beginning, and unlike Windows it was designed from the start to be used with the Internet. Windows' main problem is that it has to retain backward compatibility to previous versions, and that means maintaining support for previous bugs. Plus, there's something to be said for the entire Linux kernel being open source and looked at by thousands of software engineers daily.

I've never gotten a malware infection while on Linux, and I've never heard of anyone I know getting one either. Much easier for crackers to target Windows.
