You should be using the name that you are going to use legally from now on, on all forms, etc. If you are planning on using your married name, then you should fill out any forms with that name.

You have your certified marriage certificate to show why your name changed if you ever have any problems proving why they are different.

I hope, it is not going to be a problem for you. If they ask you any question regarding this, you can also back your answers with your marriage certificate. My wife is using her married name in all her documents except her birth certificate.

Logically, it should not be a problem for you. You can back them up with your marriage certificate. Good Luck with everything. Why don't you call NVC and ask them about it?

simple_male,

Why would she ask the question of the NVC? It's a consular officer in Manilla who is going to review the visa application materials and make the decisions about the case.

Yodrak,

Because NVC gets police certificates from applicants for some specific countries and they can advise, if having maiden names and married names in different documents are fine or not. It is not hard to call and ask a question. If they can answer, then it is fine, if not, as least, there is no harm of asking a question.

simple_male,

OK. And it appears that the Philippines is one of those countries. Thanks for the info, maybe it would be helpful.

Also, you might consider soon getting your passport, et al. changed over to your married name and making sure that you're using that *everywhere*. You'll get to have your CFO done a bit early, and it looks like according to this post, they'll only issue your greencard with the "standard" filipino naming convention: <first name> <father's last name> <husband's last name>. Hopefully this won't cause you any issues and that you'll be able to fix anything promptly if they don't like it. ttyl,

mich

Let me show you how to get your tax returns the easy way

aussiewench's thread for kicking butt in the NVC ('cause i'm too lazy to keep looking it up - haha)

We stopped pursuit of CR-1 to pursue K3/AOS. For us, both required the same document, we could only have one valid copy, and the K3 was moving faster.

See profile for the details up to and in between the events listed here.

18 May 2006 - Case # Assigned @ NVC

01 Jul 2006 - Packet "3" received from embassy

18 Jul 2006 - Medical

21 Sept 2006 - K3 Interview Date (APPROVED)

27 Sept 2006 - Received Visa
