Name Change Strategy?

Greetings! Here is the situation:

Beneficiary has passport and visa issued in maiden name.

We plan to file the AOS in married name.

We plan to file all non-government documents (apt lease, bank account, insurance account, retirement accounts) in married name.

Two questions:

1) SSN card - What is the strategy here? I assume we have to wait for the EAD. Does the EAD contain married or maiden name?

2) Passport change - Do we change passport to married name only after we have the green card?

Thanks!

Was the visa a K1? Yes, you have to wait for the EAD in order to get the SSN - I would take a certified copy of the marriage certificate with you when applying for the SSN, fill the app out in the married name. You can apply for a new passport at any time with a name change as long as you're willing to pay again. good luck.

effective May 13, 2011 - back in Canada, journey is over

Its a K3.

For the passport, if we change to married name, will she have to travel with both passports (since the visa would be in the older one with maiden name)?
