Help, Birth Certificate

Hi everyone!

Here is my situation. My fiancee had her interview on July 12, 2006. The interview went very well. But consular requested original or certifified copy of her daughter birth certificate. The problem is that my fiancee can not get the original because her ex-husband won't let her have it. In order to have a certified copy, my fiancee need the original to show to get the copy stamp. Is there anyone who have thai fiancee ever had this kind of problem?

This is the only problem that holding up our visa. My fiancee told me that the lady at window 5 was very nasty and rude to her. Please, help.....

Not sure about anywhere else...but here in the US all you have to do is go to the county building of where she was born (with identification) and ask for a new one... it costs me $10 as I had lost my original

If she is the parent.. she has the right to get a BC for her child...

A bigger question is if he is witholding the child's BC.. how did she get permission from him to take the child to the US...

You can request a copy another copy of her birth cert from the general register Office (in UK). Not sure about Thailand.

As your her mom i see no issue in getting a copy, you may have to supply your passport or birth cert, to get it.

You take it to a Notory and get it notorized.

My fiancee's daughter is not seeking k2 visa, and her ex-husband has a full custody of her child. I am a USC, I don't know how the law works in Thailand. I have no problem getting papers in U.S. But in thailand I'm completely lost. I was planning on going to Thailand on July 23. but now have to change my plan becuase of this BC.

That is what on my mind. I don't understand why the consular needs the BC of her child even though we are NOT seeking K2 visa for her child.

I wonder if somehow that was not clear to the immigration officer your fiance spoke to? And I bet her ex is worried that she is trying to get a visa for the daughter if she is looking for the BC. Could she maybe talk to him and see if she can't get copies of both the BC and papers declaring his custody, mayeb that would make him worry less? I realize talking to him may not be an option, but if it is, give it a try!

It's impossible to talk to her ex-husband. Yes. he is worrying that my fiancee want to take her daughter to the states. Her ex very abusive person. He just want to make her life difficult. He is not happy to see my fiancee happy to get on with her life. He does not want my fiancee near him eventhough he has a new wife. My fiancee divorced him because he has other wives. He got very angry when my fiancee decided to divorce him.
