The copout is always the crusades.

Timothy McVeigh wasn't a religious bombing.

Fail fail fail

How many Christians are strapping bombs to themselves, children, mentally handicapped and sending them into crouded areas to take people out? Hmmm?

How many Christians are hijacking planes and flying them into buildings? How many Christians are setting IED's and taking passersby out? Hmmm?

How many Christian families get money from extremist groups if their family members blow themselves up? hmmm?

your ignorance is terrifying

Oh dear... can we not resort to pulling random quotes out of any of the Good Books? Anything can be taken out of the Bible, the Torah, or the Qur'an and be manipulated for ulterior purposes. :(

Unfortunate, yet very true...

THere are some dumb animals....

How many Christians all gathered in the streets who lived in....Viet Nam to denounce the Branch Davidian massacre? Come on! My muslim friends were quietly sickened. Their culture is a much more reach out and touch you culture; something one needs to take into perspective when criticizing their own faith. Speaking of faith, how many ganstas wear crosses and say they believe in God?

Dumb animals! The muslims I know were all against Bhuto's murder, against Taliban, against Al Queda and they saw me very like them having one God, a jealous God and all that happy stuff. Yes, they were quite upset and said "those guys are crazy but you keep quiet because you don't know who's crazy around you and who's not". I asked them lots of questions to learn their view.

Oh...more bs....Muslims have big johnsons (a hot little Russian hooker told me...in Bangkok; she doesn't like second "dates" with mideasterners cause it was uncomfrotable)! I'm not kidding! LOL!

So from our little corner of the world...ALL muslims must be for 911 cause WE didn't see them protesting it (regardless of the fact they were waiving flags the week after like the rest of us).

I say who hates muslims, jews, buddhists, christians...off em all and let God sort em out. The world woudl be a better place without this igmoramus thinking.

i can't figure out why events that happened 500-1000 years ago are being referenced. the political issues involving scores of muslims around the planet have nothing to do with the crusades or the inquisition.

from a purely sociological perspective, they are relevant.

to whom are they relevant, and for what possible reason?

Obviously, they are relevant to the people who posted them. They are relevant to the discussion from a historical perspective. Your points are also relevant, and it is not necessary to negate the historical perspective to make your points more sustantial.

the posts citing the crusades and the inquisition were posted in response to citings of current events involving terrorism and anti-american/israel sentiment, etc. rising in e/se asia from muslims there, and in response to the islamophobe who asked "How do you live in peace with a religion that says convert or die?". the crusades and the inquisition have nothing to do with the political situation in e/se asia, and the crusades did not alter the fundamental principles of christianity (principles that do not call for christians to commit the atrocities they did at that period in time). i resent when these kinds of events are taken out of context to slander islam as a religion, and i refuse to do the same to christians or jews. if one of the islamophobe bigots here brought up al-hakim bi-amr allah as the reason for why the united states thinks it's perfectly ok to kill 687 muslim civilians in order to snuff out 14 suspected terrorists with drone attacks from 2006-2009, would you find the atrocities committed by a man who lived 1000 years ago to be relevant in a discussion of those current events? i don't, and i think it's weird and obfuscating when people drag up stuff that happened 500-1000 years ago in response to current events. especially when there is so much current stuff happening to be up in arms about. like this.

The two declarations are each five pages long and contain a series of devastating allegations concerning Erik Prince (owner of blackwater) and his network of companies, which now operate under the banner of Xe Services LLC. Among those leveled by Doe #2 is that Prince "views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe":

To that end, Mr. Prince intentionally deployed to Iraq certain men who shared his vision of Christian supremacy, knowing and wanting these men to take every available opportunity to murder Iraqis. Many of these men used call signs based on the Knights of the Templar, the warriors who fought the Crusades.

Mr. Prince operated his companies in a manner that encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life. For example, Mr. Prince's executives would openly speak about going over to Iraq to "lay Hajiis out on cardboard." Going to Iraq to shoot and kill Iraqis was viewed as a sport or game. Mr. Prince's employees openly and consistently used racist and derogatory terms for Iraqis and other Arabs, such as "ragheads" or "hajiis." http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090817/scahill

or this.

In a civil suit filed by Iraqi civilians July ‘07, a brief referring to ‘Prince companies’ as ‘Prince RICO Enterprise’ reads: “Reasonable discovery likely will show that the Prince RICO Enterprise violated [u.S. Code], having young girls provide Enterprise members at the ‘Blackwater Man Camp’ in exchange for one American dollar.”

John Doe #2 stated that Mr. Prince “knowingly” hired two people “previously involved in a Kosovo sex trafficking ring” to high-level posts within his corporations. Blackwater set up what is known as the “Man Camp” where adult and child prostitutes are used to provide ’services’.

“Mr. Prince travelled repeatedly to Iraq, and frequently visited the Blackwater ‘Man Camp’ during his trips overseas,” John Doe #2 stated. “Mr. Prince failed to stop the ongoing use of prostitutes, including child prostitutes, by his men.” http://littlealexinwonderland.wordpress.co...he-name-of-god/

a whole lot more relevant and current to the discussion i think.

More dumb animal tricks. Like a story about what one man did has anything to do with what people supposedly were commanded to do today (not then but today). I believe future commandments were said like "no matter what you do, if you do nothing else, love one another".

Telling someone "pick up thyne bed and walk" has nothing to do with today...it was a story that involved someone back then about a miracle back then to show a point. We don't all need to walk around with our beds on Saturdays.

dumb animals abound

Iraq had a legitimate gripe when it invaded Kuwait. I bet no one knows what it ever was. Blackwater...how many Christians are in the streets about this? And if they are, how many media venues cover it on the other side of the globe? THat's like generalizing (ignorantly) no Muslims protested 911. Inbred thinking, really.

I do have a problem with that sort of "Uncle Dad and Aunt Mom" thinking.

Qur'an (2:191-193) - "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."

Qur'an (2:244) - "Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things."

Qur'an (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."

Qur'an (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."

Qur'an (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".

Qur'an (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward."

Qur'an (4:76) - "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"

Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks."

Qur'an (4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..."

Qur'an (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Qur'an (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Qur'an (8:15) - "O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's end."

Qur'an (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah"

Qur'an (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."

Qur'an (9:14) - "Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace..."

Qur'an (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Qur'an (9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!"

Qur'an (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."

Tabari 9:69 "Killing Unbelievers is a small matter to us"

THERE are many many more where that came from... Religion of peace?

This kind of thinking is precisely what lead to 911 and the radicalism. Twisting words for your own benefit. Think about it; nothing different. Let me read a story book then take out the violent tales and apply them to my dog and say the story book is telling my dog to bite the mailman.

This sort of thinking is why we're at this juncture now. Too many religious zealots on both sides without even the minimal amount of spirituality. Religion is far different than spirituality.

It took you this long?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills.
