Although he has biases (same as anyone) the article is very insightful and informative and shows that he understands Americans much better than most Americans understand Iran. He also has a pretty good grasp of politics...

Christianity says convert or burn in Hell, but at least its your choice.

Politics. Some of players involved happen to be adherents to Islam. This is not a religious war although it's being touted as one. I invite ppl to meet some real life Muslims and have some in depth convos with them. Buying gas or cigarettes from a Muslim doesn't count.

I have three Muslims living in my household. I feel no threat from them. Two have my own blood flowing through their veins.

They are ppl.

Not to bring up religious wars but didn't the Christians wage war on the world at some point in time? Weren't ppl forced to convert under threat of death? VJ and interwebs weren't around back then so of course there weren't news reports or threads about it.

Organized religion in general breeds contempt. Let's try to look outside of the box and view ppl as ppl. Tolerate, love or hate on a case by case basis.

i agree with looking outside the box,,, alot of people just want to judge whole nation of people cause of some bad ones, i dont get it, to me its limited thinking,,,the war isnt a religious war to begin with, why does ppl have to say look what the muslims did, if the people are from iraq, sayyyyy iraqis,, not the religion,,, dont confuse religion with whats happening, i have been around manyyyyyyyyyyyy muslims in my life , and not only do i and many of my friends felt welcomed,,,, but they showed alot of respect, but im not saying all muslims do and i cant say all christains are good or all hindus are goood ,, good and bad in all colors, religions, countrys, so with knowing this and getting outside the box ,,, i realize when i meet someone, dont look at thier color, thier country or thier religion, look at them, listen to thier words and watch thier actions,,,,,,,, because if someone does something bad, its not thier countrys fault, they cant say its thier race fault and they cant blame no one or any religion of they dont have the brains to do whats right,,,,, so now guess whos fault it is,,, thier ownnnnnnnnnnn fault,, may god be with us always,,, may peace come one day,

That's from 1995 - the point of contention between the two countries was always Saddam Hussein's dictatorship, not anything directly factional or sectarian between the two countries. As it stands Iran has a big hand into Iraq's politics - they're the ones who told the Al Sadrists to back down last year. The current Iraqi administration is much more amenable to Iran than it ever was under Saddam Hussein.
