can you elaborate on how you arrange the pre screen documents...

one set of orginal and one set of copy....or....orignal then copy right behind.

how did they ask for the docs at the window?...one at a time or the whole set....

Ronnie,

Got a quesion regarding the submission of docs b4 interview.. When she submitted, How big was the space that the docs went through in the window? I have mine organized in sections attached with those two hole clips.. and one is an inch or so thick...four packets based on the description in pkt 4. I am worried they may not accept everything attached or that it may be too thick to get through the slot to them.

I have one set originals, one set copies and one group of evidence pre engagement and one post.

Either way is fine. They still look thru it at the collection window to make sure you have all the required doc required. Make sure they are in the order as noted in Package 4. We attached the original in front of the copy with paper clips. Our case is straigght forward so we have only the basic docs (ie, no previous marriage, etc..). We turned in the whole set at the time. They gave all the original back at the end of the interview.

Scott, the widow is standard with a small slot at the bottom. It is like the one at the Info Widow outside the Consulate. I think you can squeeze by with an 1 inch stack, but prepare to disassemble into smaller one if required.

Timeline

Ronnie,

I want to understand this better. You submitted a timeline with your I-129F petition but you did not have it notarized. Do you think you got the blue slip requesting a timeline, because you did not notarize it?

<CARRICK>

You submitted a notarized timeline of relationship with the initial filing and they requested it on the blue slip as well? Thats pretty arrogant of them.. asking for what they already have... Did they specify that they wanted an updated one or just the generic notarized timeline of relationship request?

They did not indicated they want an updated one. The language in the blue requesting for it is a generic one as already seen it from previous posts: * PETITIONER: In a sworn, notarized statement, pls provide a detailed chronology (timeline) for your relationship.....

May be the blue form it already generic with the timeline request already on it so it's easier to print out and have us submitted it later, eventhough it is already in front of therm.

***Remember, Hang said the interview go really really fast. Most of the thing you want to elaborate or explain, you may not have much time. And they do ask the same question over again. Some are just simple one but may not be when they rapid fired your fiancee with questions.

Timeline

No I doubt that is why they got the blue slip.

The timeline that the CO wants to see is a timeline of your ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP from the BEGINNING up to CURRENT DAY.

I didn't break mine down into days. I broke mine into months. See my post HCMC - Evidence you should have

It has example timelines in ENGLISH and VN. I submitted both. I went a little overboard and created a third detailing daya by day my trips to vietnam.

Filed Removal of Conditions: 11/05/10

Rec'd NOA1: 11/08/10

Biometrics: 12/22/10

10 YR Greencard: 03/03/11 APPROVED

10 YR Greencard Rec'd: 03/08/11 RECEIVED

<CARRICK>

I don't believe so, the first window accepted my updated & notarized timeline but she gave it back after the interview. I think my blue is more about the missing medical results and they just throw the timeline in there too.

...Or maybe they need an updated notary. I had it done in the States before I came here.

I am thinking to get an updated notary at the Consulate for $30, unless anyone know any place outside can do it too. Please advise. Thanks.

Go with the consulate. $30 is a lot for notary services, but there's no way the CO is going to question the validity of the notary seal. You shouldn't have to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes at US Citizen's Services.

I suspect the blue slip was prepared before your wife submitted her documents, and they weren't going to bother printing up a new one.

I wonder what all the extra fees are that add up to the $30 charge--US Notaries are only supposed to charge $6 to notarize a signature! :P

As far as I know, the fee is pretty much the same at every US Consulate in the world. I know, for example, that US Consulates in Canada also charge $30 for notarial services. I imagine the price is probably dictated by the Department of State.

It's probably helpful to realize that a notary at a US Consulate is not some hack who took a test, paid a fee, and got a stamp from his state government just so he/she could offer notary services. A notary at a US Consulate is a Consular Officer whose authority comes from the US federal government.

Thanks Jim, you're right..I am thinking along the same line as yours.

The notarial service is available from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

I will go there tomorrow to see how the $30 Consulate Seal look like :)

You won't be impressed. It looks like a rubber stamp. I've blotted out the stuff in the attached photo that makes it a "legal" stamp, like the signatories name and the consul's signature.

Our Blue only had medical. nothing else. also I did not have my Timeline notarized. I signed and dated the day of her interview. I had made a timeline before I went, it was pretty long. Phis Lawyer told me things to cut out and then updated it the morning of, stating i was in Vietnam the day of her interview and the length of my trip. I hope they dont give us a second blue asking for a new timeline... still waiting to hear word from them. her doc said wait until the 25th to ask them about it. but i might contact them on the 20th if I hear no word.

If the initial blue slip didn't ask for the petitioner to submit a notarized timeline, I think you should be fine...but who knows--I've seen cases of VJers who were told to redo medicals, etc.

Goodluck ! :)
