Excuse me for being stupid, but what did she mean by romantic? Is that really a question that is asked? Mercy!

I have wondered the correct answer to this question too... it could either mean...

1. When did we start having 'relations'?

2. When did we start having an attraction to each other?

3. When did we start to think that we liked each other?

4. When did we first say we loved each other?

5. (OR) When did my fiance write a note asking if I would be his girlfriend.. check yes [ ] or no [ ] lolol

Not sure how to answer that one either!

That's what worries me, what if Bijad is asked this... how in the world is he supposed to answer.

Im really sorry to hear about your interview. But to offer another perspective after reading your story here is what I find.

Please do not get offended, as I am only playing devil's advocate, and am only trying to help. I could be COMPLETELY OFF BASE, but here it goes.

If I am interviewing a person and they hesitate during a question, I am immediately suspicious. It does not matter why because the question is being avoided.

The consular officer sounds as though they were intentionally vague about the word romantic. In my opinion it doesn't mean a damn thing. All he had to do was answer. You state that he was asked the question multiple times throughout the interview. Correct me if I am wrong, but he failed to give a concrete answer. To me, that is suspicious. When you love someone, you don't have to think about it. I believe this is what they are looking for. Not whether or not you've had sex, not when he started making kissy faces, not when the love notes happened.....sincerity.

In any other situation that is not wrapped around the fear, anger, and frustration of a visa interview a person could answer this question because the answer does not matter. It is a chance to reflect. And if I don't see that reflection, or sincerity, I don't approve a visa. Period.

All of this is earth shattering, and I am really sorry to hear about your case. I wish you the best of luck in the future and don't worry, although your case may be sent back, I have faith it will return only to be approved.

I don't think you're off base on a reaction to romantic, however, she did state something about his English being poor too.

We were actually asked the same question during our AOS interview. When did we feel our relationship (since we were friends first) turned romantic? Even after we both answered; she still pressed on about it. "So you actually (directed at me) feel that even though he was miles apart by then, that you were "exclusive". Huh? LOL. Again, without hesistation we both answered at times over each other with very similar responses and nods of agreement. There were other questions as well and they were along the same lines. It was grilling but overall she was kind as was the other man sitting in on the interview.

So be prepared that these type of questions do not end after a visa...they continue on and on....

Well first they do get a little embarassing at times, for them your unmarried so there should be no (relations) maybe she was looking for this, of course this is none of their business BUT when you go to get a marriage license they DO ask if you have had sex, so they make it their business. IF the guys could only stop and think to say please explain how do you mean this but they just dont seem to think of the variations of the way things are said, i see this even in ahmed now. Tell them to NOT answer until they understand

Did they give u the pouch number? if not it probably DIDNT go yet, they are bad about this saying one thing and doing another. Why didnt she see all the evidences, was he prepared and had it all with him and she wouldnt look or he was not prepared....if it is back sorry but this is a lesson for those to follow.

First always have the senator/rep lined up and ready to go if this happens dont wait until AFTER the interivew do sign him up and let him know the details ahead of time...timing is very important

Be sure they take all the evidences to the interview, dont think oh i can return with more the next day it dont work like that. If he had it all teach them to present the evidences at the correct time. If she asks how do you talk, then he would say we talk phone some here would you like to see the records and hand them to her, if he says talk computer then he would say we chat alot because of money here would you like to see our chats etc etc. How long was her visits, here would you like to see our pictures of the trip

These things i learned myself to late, our first was returned, i made another trip married and had no more problems, it can all be overcome in time but as in time of probably another year but it can happen. Anyway have them give you the pouch number so you can track the return. If it is returned to calif i would forget it and either refile or marry and the other takes so long to review i would still just go marry and be done with it.

That is really good advice. I am getting ready to send my fiance everything, all copies of everything I sent with the original petition, and because it cost so much to send it I was thinking of omitting some evidence.. and by reading these posts it appears that is a bad idea. Thank you so much for your input and good advice!

yes it does cost BUT you have to think of it in this way, (this is my last chance to get this thru the system) so you pull out all the stops and go for it, kinda the end to the end hopefully with good outcome. This interview is what all this time and effort has been about you got to make it count.

I do have the pouch number, every one i talk to is shocked it left that fast.

ok, even still I had the pouch number also, made me think that mine was kinda like the last one to go in and it left, BUT it didnt it was still there for a couple of weeks. So keep trying with the calls etc there is a number (i dont still have but can get) that you call and find once it hits back in the US. I dont know how you feel but i wouldnt waste time trying to wait for someone to reconsider here because if it goes back to Calif it is left to expire (the end) the other one it can be over a year to just be reviewed if then. I would immediately refile or go back and marry i have known those refiled by the time the first was returned and they made it just fine and i know for us we married and had no more problems. I just wouldnt waste time looking for a review even with the refile or the marriage your still talking at least another year of getting thru all this again

Im really sorry to hear about your interview. But to offer another perspective after reading your story here is what I find.

Please do not get offended, as I am only playing devil's advocate, and am only trying to help. I could be COMPLETELY OFF BASE, but here it goes.

I love the devils advocate. Not offended in the least. But let me put it to you this way. IF you are excepted to answer every question completly right and you ask in what manner the question is being asked and you are told that is not what i said. I mean romatic in what way, we are chatting online. Did she mean closer in relationship online, or face to face romantic, and now remember you are haveing to answer this completly right. Cuz if not, you will be consider fruad. I think if you ask in what way this question is being asked and they do not tell you, and you answer in all ways of romantic and they still say you are not answering me right. It is pretty safe to say there was not a right answer and was a trick question. And also remember you are asking a man what romantic means,to them romantic is with your wife or fiance in person. Then you add american culture to it they have not yet experinced and only getting bits and peices, how do you answer that question. There was no defined way in her questioning on that question. So that question is simple to us, as we are aloud to romance out fiances, these men are not aloud too. So they are grasping at straws on that.
