Martindart- ewww, that is a good one. I lived in India for 8 months but basically wore the same clothes! All my pictures were taken on a digital camera so they are time and date stamped but I would have to bank on a Consular Officer being kind and patient enough to put a CD in his or her computer to check.

Hmmm... don't know if they would take the time to do that. :blink:

Good luck!

Hmm, why would it be more difficult for a woman to to bring a man?? Now I'm worried :unsure:

It is not more difficult.

In some countried it is actually more difficult/time consuming to bring a male rather than a female.

I have seen some cases where security checks last months on a male when they are not even ordered on a female.

That's in the Middle East.... I don't know about other countries with this "policy"

I guess it depends on the foreign country and the culture :mellow: .

sakurasama,

Each post is going to have similarities and differences with other posts in terms of the situations that they encounter among the visa applicants who come before them. What might be a 'red flag' at one post will not be at another. And at any particular post, what might not be a 'red flag' in one set of circumstances might become one in another set of circumstances.

Answers to your question will be many and varied, and often post-specific and applicant-specific.

Yodrak

Reading these posts I have discovered there seems to be some things I wouldn't have thought of that might make it more difficult to get a visa, such as being a woman trying to bring a man into the country, a large age difference between you and your fiance/fiancee, having brought or filed for another immigrant fiance/fiancee or spouse in the past, etc. What other kinds of things make Consular Officers go, "hmmmm"?

Sakurasama,

As others have said, each Consulate/country is different. I am curious... I see your country listed as "Tibet"... which Consulate will you be going through?

I am a divorced, female USC who petitioned for my younger Asian husband and his son with no problems (with the petition or at the Consular level :wacko: ). I did, however, take care to provide evidence that our relationship was/is within the bounds of normalcy in terms of his culture. This was done at the recommendation of an immigration attorney.

Feel free to PM me if I can be of assistance.

Good luck,

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

From the thread Aussiewench posted:

Very interesting dynamics. You noted some of the potential red flags that could result in a returned petition would be..

Quoting from your article http://www.ilw.com/articles/2006,0323-ellis.shtm

1. A very brief courtship followed by a plunge into matrimony;

2. A marriage ceremony arranged only a short time after petitioner arrives in the beneficiary’s country and they meet for the first time;

3. No common language;

4. Petitioner resides with family members of the beneficiary in the US;

5. Petitioner is employed by or has a business relationship with a relative of beneficiary;

6. Petitioner submits phone records that show he uses a residential phone number that is listed in the name of another person.

7. US divorce followed very quickly by an engagement to foreign beneficiary is often a red flag for consular officers.

8. There is little or no documentary evidence of the relationship prior to the actual engagement.

9. Long gaps of time between the petitioner & beneficiary being together in person.

10. Failure to disclose previous marriages;

11. Failure to disclose previous petitions filed on behalf of other beneficiaries.

Also, beneficiary has young children in beneficiary's native country

"7. US divorce followed very quickly by an engagement to foreign beneficiary is often a red flag for consular officers."

Can anyone explain why this sends a red flag? I am concerned because in my case I was waiting for my divorce to be finalized in order to file the I-129F. How can I mitigate this possibility of denial? Thanks!

9. Long gaps of time between the petitioner & beneficiary being together in person.

Hmm. We haven't seen each other since December, and won't see each other again til he moves here. But that's cuz we're tying to save all the money that we can for his move and whatnot. I'd imagine that if he were asked that at the interview and explained that, and the fact that we still talk for hours daily and spend time on the webcam and play internet games together, that the person would just dismiss it and move on... right?

December I dont believe would be a long enough gap.. I think they're more concerned with people who met within the past 2 years, but it was almost 2 years ago...

Also, I believe that you have a perfectly good explanation for the gap between visits. Don't worry too much. :)

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

What's up with a red flag going up if the petitioner proposed to the beneficiary right after meeting (usually)-her? I mean, that would be a problem for tons of people with Filipina brides. Didn't Charles propose to Nessa like 2 days after they met and then go home briefly afterward?
