Okay,

I filed my application last month, and I didn't mention the 2 speeding tickets I have had over the last 5 years in the question 16. I didn't know that citations included traffic violations until now. Can my application be denied based on that?.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any ticket under $500 and are not DUI related do not have to be disclosed. You have nothing to worry about. This is directly from the INS themselves on the phone and in person and from my and many thousands of others who had the same question on our N-400.

If you have other issues on your N-400 though that borderline on moral issues in the past (arrests etc or even other citations etc) then they may want to see proof of the tickets. You will not be denied for not mentioning them, but they may ask to see proof later (rare, but it does happen). Then you would need to research how to obtain the records that they were paid. In many cases some jurisdictions don't keep records after a certain period of time, or you may have got them in many other states etc.

It is not always easy to get the proof, so there is no need to do that right now unless specifically asked for it.

In my situation I didn't mention my numerous tickets and was just asked in the interview if I had ever been to court (not ticketed), I mentioned yes twice for traffic violations (where I was at the time they were mandatory court for any traffic tickets). The IO asked what it was for, I told him speeding and doing a running of a stop sign. He then asked if anywhere DUI or over $500. No. And then I asked if I should have mentioned them. He said no only if they were over $500 or any sort of DUI, and then he moved on to the next question...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...
